Mysterious holes!

Is anyone else getting buyers (I've had two) contact them with photos of holes in knitwear that you didn't see when posting the item?

One is a scarf and the "hole" pic is a bit weird, it looks strangely smooth/perfect for a hole in Knitwear and the hole is jet black, whereas the background (behind the scarf) is chipboard.

The buyer suggested a half price discount for this (v small) hole

It's not impossible I didn't notice it as the scarf tends to curl in at the sides but the photo is odd.

I've said I'll do a full refund if they return and they've since stopped messaging.

The second is a cashmere jumper. They've sent me a picture of a small hole in the armpit, but the fabric doesn't look like the jumper I sent them.

Again I've offered full refund for return and haven't heard from them since.

I think I remember a similar story from a seller on here who then saw the item being resold with the small hole mended.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I now feel like I've got to take about 100 photos of every inch of a scarf or jumper before I send it.

I think the buyer is trying it on. I would have done the same in your situation and insisted she return it for a full refund. Usually this is enough to see them off, I don't think you'll hear from her again.

I think 'tis the season' for this sort of thing. I sell quite a bit year round on eBay and have the occasional issue but in the last month I've had two difficult buyers.

The scarf buyer has t responded since.

The jumper buyer has said;

"Thank you for you kind and generous offer. I'll find someone to fix the hole, it's just frustrating to have to take the time to do this as I purchased it to wear for a funeral. Guess it's easy to miss these things sometime".

This buyer prompted me to send this item before it's dispatch by day because she said she needed it to wear to a funeral "early next week" (this week) but on Wed she's still talking about it as though she'll be wearing it for that.

Also this hole is a v small hole in the armpit of the jumper, I can't imagine the circumstances in which it would ever be visible.

She's talking about getting someone else to mend it because her sewing is poor.

Anyway, yes, it's funny how you get nothing like this for months and then all of a sudden two or more.

Good news the scarf buyer has disappeared, I thought she would!

It does sound as though the jumper buyer doesn't want to return it but I'm not sure why she's explaining about having to find someone to sew up a tiny hole and how this would mean she couldn't wear it until it was done. She hasn't really made it clear to you what she wants you to do, perhaps she's hoping you'll offer her a partial refund?

Sorry I somehow didnt see this reply.

Yes she was definitely hinting at a partial refund.

And justifying it by saying her sewing is poor so she'd have to pay someone to do it.

I don't know how poor your sewing would have to be to not be able to put a couple of stitches in a tiny hole in the armpit of a jumper.

It's not that though - it's that I don't remember seeing the hole and I usually check items over before sending, and the fabric looks a bit different in her photos.

I said if she could find no other garment to wear, she was welcome to wear it once (it's a used item anyway), that I'd imagine one wear would be ok without it being mended (as it's in a not visible place), and she could then return it for a full refund.
Not heard back since.
