Ok so lately I've put on loads of baby clothes, bundles and individual pieces, had a couple of watchers but no bids (well, one dress sold for £2, went straight into DD1's piggy bank lol)
I've done everything by the book, listings to end at the weekend at about 8pm, used key words etc, good quality pics and loads of info about every items very low starting prices, low p+p, non smoking house, no pets, most of the stuff barely used, but nothing seems to shift and we're in desperate need right now too
I re-listed and still nothing

I've now listed the stuff on MN sale/wanted boards but no luck there either!!
Where am I going wrong with this? I feel like pulling my hair out as a friend of mine seems to be making a fortune buying and selling baby stuff 9she buys from charity shops etc and sells for profit!!! I'd never do this and have told her I don't think she's right to do it etc but it's her decision and all that, but this annoys me that she can be deviant and make money yet I'm an honest person and don't make a penny! )

Ooh ranting now, this seems to be the trend for me lately, sorry

baby clothes never sell well on ebay ime, especially if they're not a known brand. is your friend maybe buying toys (eg logo) and stuff like that?

LollypopzMummy · 11/03/2008 20:15

She buys everything baby related, toys, pushchairs, chairs, clothes. If they need a clean she'll clean it then, if she can get away with it, sell it as new!!

All the clothes I've got are mostly Next so would've thoguht they'd go pretty well, as most of the other listing are Next too.

have you checked what similar stuff sold for?

mustrunmore · 11/03/2008 20:19

Depends on the size. Smaller stuff just really cant be given away; trust me, we had an entire box room full of baby clothes under 12 months at one point, all nice ,all given to us for ds1, but couldnt even pass it on! Sold some bits for 20p each at car boot, that ws it really.

I have always done well selling kids clothes, Next is always my best seller, sometimes i sell for more than i bought them for new

I always find 0-12 months dont sell as well as 12 months+.

Girls clothes sell better than boys

I never sell in lots as they don't sell (postege too high)

LollypopzMummy · 11/03/2008 20:22

Some bundles, that were listed to end at about the same time, went for about the £20 + p+p (similar amounts, similar brands etc)

I don't really want to keep re-listing cos then I'd have to hike up the price to cover the money that I keep losing

We're desperate to get rid of them and get a bit of cash as DH is not working atm so no income (for reasons far too annoying to explain but basically he had to leave and is now waiting on a reply about one particular job, blah blah blah )

Maybe the bundle was too big for some? I kept the p+p as low as poss and started the listing at something stupid like £3 (it had 35 pieces I think) and I even made sure that they were put into outfits, so no odd bits that you'd have to find a mathing top/bottom for. . .

They were all below 12 months though (due to DD2 only being 5 months old and we're bound to need DD1's oldies for her) but still. . . mystified.

Would anyone suggest prostituting the clothes on a pregnancy thread? Or should I just leave it on the for sale board?

leave on the for sale board
