Help with Vinted - buyer wants a refund

I've been using Vinted for just over a year and bought and sold loads of things without any issues at all, in fact my feedback is all 5* and positively glowing. This isn't surprising since I only sell mine and the children's excess clothes and everything is good quality, pristine and reasonably priced to sell.

I recently sold a dress, is was nice, good condition but not a top brand and had been worn and washed a few times but I've been clearing out following significant weight loss and just want obsolete stuff gone from my wardrobe. I listed it at £5, the buyer offered £3, I wanted it gone so I accepted and posted the same day.

Roll forward the buyer has sent a claim to Vinted saying there's a mark on the dress, I'm not aware that there was a mark and they have sent a photo of what looks like a dollop of ketchup. I can't believe that I would have missed that as from their photo it's in a prominent place. I've to the seller to say that I can't believe I missed the mark and if they return it I will of course refund them, which is what I thought is standard Vinted policy.

They've now responded saying they want an immediate refund and won't pay the return postage, and will leave negative feedback if I don't agree. I suspect that they didn't like the dress or it didn't fit and just want their money back, which is a risk you take buyer secondhand clothes.

The transaction is showing as suspended with Vinted as they have raised an issue, so I haven't received the £3. So if I stick to my guns and insist they return for a refund, in line with policy, are they able to leave negative feedback as they say they intend to?

I could refund them, but out of principle I feel that they are cheating the system and the dress definitely didn't have a blob of ketchup on it when sold.

Any advice.

Sorry about the typos, I thought there was now an edit function but it seems not the app I use 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would just say follow Vinted policy. And they have to return for a refund.

As a buyer from Vinted I bought two items in a set that were advertised as 1 item worn once and one item was new. However when I received it, both had been worn and one was dirty. You could tell from pockets that a child had worn both items.

However item cost £4 and really couldn't be bothered to pay postage for the sake of a refund so ended up keeping

I know it hurts but just cancel the transaction and try to forget it. There are always bad buyers and you’ve been lucky to get that far without one.

I would insist on following the proper rules. One bad review isn’t the end of the world amd you can leave them equally bad feedback!

For the sake of £3, I would just refund everything but postage and say 'keep it'.

That's not a bad idea, how do you do that on Vinted?

I'm sorry I don't know but is there an option for a partial refund?

Palindrone · 12/09/2023 23:21

If they leave negative feedback you can respond to their comments and also leave them negative feedback in return.

They probably don't want to pay the return postage costs but that's how Vinted works.

If you cancel the transaction (regardless of whether the buyer sends it back or not) they can no longer leave you feedback of any kind.

I guess you have to decide what matters more - the principle or the risk your feedback will no longer be 5*.

Wanderinghome · 12/09/2023 23:30

I'd go with Vinted policy, as someone has said you can respond to feedback and it probably won't decrease your rating by much.

Can you see the stain on the photos from your item?

holidayisthebestday · 12/09/2023 23:34

You do have the option to reply to their feedback so anyone that reads it will be able to see what's happened. Don't worry about them leaving negative feedback,I've bought most of mine and my kids clothes from there and I just check that the seller has mostly good reviews. One bad review won't stop people from buying from you,

I had similar happen to me with an embroidery anglaise top I sold that was beautiful. It had a small thread (as sometimes embroidery anglaise does) that they took a pic of because they probably couldn't be arsed reselling it due to it not fitting and raised an issue with Vinted.

I insisted on them sending it me back.

I would do the same if I were you.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 12/09/2023 23:46

I would stick to Vinted policy, one bad review isn't problematic if the rest are excellent. I would think the kind of person who fusses over a £3 item will fuss over the postage as well, which is why I would stick to the rules and if you can feedback to them, feedback that you followed Vinted's policy. Very annoying and I'm sure you are right about the stain (can you see in the original photos?)

Vinted - help!

hi everyone this is my first post

I have been buying and selling on vinted now for a little while with odd bits and bobs.

I recently sold a brand new pair of pjs that cost over £45. I had them listed as £15 but accepted £11 from buyer. I normally only use Evri or yodel but when label came through from buyer it was dpd.

I went out my way to drop these off at local drop off and got receipt etc. Fast forward a few days and this was with buyers local collection point as requested by buyer. I then got a notification from vinted saying that parcel was unable to be delivered to buyer and was being sent back. ….. I’ve never experienced this before so contacted vinted who then cancelled the transaction and they refunded buyer.

I have no idea where the parcel is or when/if I will get this back. It’s been 5 days. The transaction is listed as cancelled (buyer refunded) and I’m without the item I posted out. Vinted haven’t responded to myself with messages as an auto response saying I will hear back in 24 hours and they are busy etc. Has anyone else has this happen thanks as I don’t know what to do thanks. I now notice it’s no longer showing on my pending balance either.

im assuming the buyer asked the collection point to return this as they purchased the orginal postage label so I can’t track this etc

Thanks
