Refused offer

Someone made me an offer for an item. I either refused or ignored(can’t remember). Anyway, auction finished and although they bid they didn’t win( should have put their offer as their max bid. They would have won. They are going to query with eBay that as they offered more originally, the item is theirs. That’s mad, right? Unaccepted offers don’t trump actual bids? I have to post the item to the buyer by Tuesday so I hope EBay are prompt with their response

They are just trying it on chancers with no leg to stand on. Winning bid wins, end of argument.

caringcarer · 17/07/2023 02:02

They should have bid in your auction if they wanted it. They sound nuts.

OooohAhhhh · 17/07/2023 04:11

Stop hanging about and just post the item to the winning bidder, as the person in question is in cuckoo land and it will never happen, it's not how eBay works. Their fault entirely, they should have put it as their highest bid.

Thanks. Parcelling up today. Just wanted confirmation that I wasn’t going mad. I’ll also block as I don’t need any issues on any other sales.

i thought I was well in my rights to ignore or refuse offers.

She's driving me nuts! She's said that Ebay said that as she put in a higher offer (that I didn't respond to) then it's ok to sell to her. She's 'desperate' for the dress to replace one that was ruined.

My bidder has paid! I'm about to post the dress to her. I wouldn't want to cancel the sale even if I could.

I've replied and told her all this - I am right, aren't I?
You don't have to respond to bids (an oversight on my part) even if it's way more than the start price, do you?

She's making me doubt myself. I have a perfect score so far and I'd like to keep it that way!

Do you need to respond to her at all?

Winning bidder has paid, so you have to honour that transaction.

I don't believe for one second that eBay agree with her. Just block her.

Thanks. It just makes you second-guess yourself!

Just block her. She’s bonkers.

Hawkins0001 · 17/07/2023 23:46

@Nanny0gg
From my experience, if an item has make an offer then you can offer.
If however you then or someone else places a bid on the item it automatically cancels all previous offers, and begins the bidding to decide who wins the item.

I've used the bid method over the offer method incase someone else has put an offer on the item as I know putting a bid on cancels the offers.

noglow · 21/07/2023 19:54

It's fine. The whole point of the offer is so that you can go ahh I won't risk it at auction. It doesn't matter if you get less overall.

DelilahBucket · 21/07/2023 19:57

Ignore her and add her to your blocked bidders list just in case. Send the item to the person who has paid.

Nanny0gg · 21/07/2023 20:12

Thanks all for your advice

Desperate bidder now blocked!
