Positive feedback with negative comments

After advice please... I recently sold a child's hoodie on eBay, was selling lots of things at the same time and I must have got muddled and stupidly advertised it as M&S when it should have been Next. The item only sold for 99p.

The buyer contacted me when it arrived to let me know the mistake, I offered either a return or refund with them keeping the item anyway. They said it was fine they'd keep it. They've now left feedback which is rated positive but in the text is a long moan about item not as advertised etc... I feel this is really unfair, can I do anything about it?

Nobody reads individual comments beyond the first few unless you have a lot of negatives, in which case you can filter by it anyway. It's unlikely anyone will see it if you have a high feedback rating.

Since you've got a positive from the transaction, I wouldn't worry too much. The feedback shouldn't be retracted because it's fair - you did advertise incorrectly. You can always reply to the feedback if you wanted to, but I'd be tempted to just leave it, as you might just make things worse.

If I was the buyer, I would have probably left neutral feedback rather than positive, so I think you've done okay out of this.

@Tromso but it's not entirely fair though, as it doesn't mention that I offered a full refund or return (at my expense). I wouldn't mind if it acknowledged the mistake I made but pointed out my offer to rectify... they could have returned or had a refund which they declined so why leave a (positive) negatively worded review?

Anyway its ultimately my mistake so I'll make sure I'll double check all future listings! Grin

As a seller you are allowed to respond to feedback. I would politely apologise again for the mistake and state that you offered a refund or return to the buyer. This will show other buyers you are a reliable seller,

I apologise, for some reason I thought that the long comment told the whole story! Well in that case, definitely respond to it to give your side and confirm that you did refund the buyer.

Thanks both, I've replied apologising for the error and stating that a refund/ return was offered etc... didn't want to come across too challenging (as it was my fault!) but want people to know I'm a genuine seller who will resolve issues and isn't trying to con people! Blush

I agree with the others. What you offered seems fair and helpful. It can feel more hassle than it's worth for these low cost items! Hopefully you'll go back to getting uneventful positive feedback now (when people take the time to leave it) so the longer one will move down the list.

It sold for 99p. The buyer is being an absolute dickhead.
