Seller being unreasonable with feedback!

I purchased something off of ebay a couple of days ago. It came through the post this morning. Postage costs when I bought them seemed very high but I just thought that the womans packaging costs would up the price iykwim? I thought that with the postage as high as it was to post such a small item, meant it'd come all boxed up with bubble wrap etc, which I know can become expensive when put together.

They came through the post this morning with A piece of brown paper wrapped round them, which had been ripped to shreds. I was lucky that the item hadn't been damaged. I looked at the postage stamp and she'd overcharged me by over half the ammount it actually cost to post! I think that's really unreasonable considering there was no box, protective wrapping etc. Lord there wasn't even a second layer of brown paper! The item cost me a lot of money to buy.

I really liked the item, it wasn't damaged and postage was quick. So I didn't want to leave her negative feedback. Instead I left her neutral feedback saying the item was great, postage really quick, but postage was far too high. I thought that this was reasonable. She then gave me neutral feedback for no reason! I did everything right to ensure it was an easy transaction on my part, paid her instantly etc. I just think this is so unfair and childish, I'd rather she'd left me no feedback instead. Is there anything I can do to get it removed as it just seems so unfair when I did everything right on my part?

agree totally sixmonkeys!!

At the moment I will bend over backwards to help a customer who has a problem but I am going to be a lot less likely to bother if the buyer can leave a negative with impunity? where is the incentive for me to sort out any problems? at the moment the incentive is that I will get a negative if I dont help and yes I can leave a negative but to sellers the feedback is far more important its what makes buyers choose to buy from us, but if regardless of what you do to sort out the problems some buyers are going to say well that wasnt a perfect transaction so I will leave a negative, I Know they cant leave me one back, deespite having received a full refund or a new item. I think far from encouraging sellers to sort out problems its going to make many of them think well they are highly likely to leave a negative so sod sorting it out.

The feedback is going to give a far less accurate picture of how transactions go. Its like a shoplifter going into Boots, M&S, Next & Debenhams etc taking hundreds of pounds of stuff but nobody is allowed to tell anyone else about it, but the same thief can tell everyone that the stuff he has is rubbish!!!

It wont just affect the big sellers it will be all sellers even the ones that list only once or twice a year, and will possibly have more impact on them, and even if you are accurate and honest in your description its not how you view something its how your buyer views it.

Knowing all this Starlight would you still want to sell on ebay?
