Someone has emailed me an offer on an item.
The item is on 10 day auction and as yet has no bids

If I want to sell to this person what do I do

  • end listing early?
  • relist adding a Buy it now price?
  • otherwise how to they pay me etc?

as you can tell I am new to all this!

add a BIN to the listing and message them to tell them you have done so.

don't end it and sell off ebay - you will lose your protection

bubblagirl · 28/01/2008 09:01

just go to revise item as long as no bids on it already you can add abin to it e mail them first and tell them you are doing it and then change it

and second the dont sell outside e bay although i must admit had to do this once but would never do again just in case

you will be charged maybe 5p to add bin and fees will be same once bought i've done this several times

TheBlonde · 28/01/2008 10:26

thanks both

they have offered me 20 quid - do you think they are including the postage in that figure or not?
should I check before adding the BIN?

depends on whether you are prepared to accept 20 inclusive of postage.
Usually the offer is for the item, so I'd add a BIN of 20 and leave the p&P as it is already

thanks for your help

I have a further question - someone else has contacted me asking if I will do BIN but they haven't suggested a price

I'm not sure what to do
No bids yet but listing doesn't end til Sunday
Is it okay to email and ask what they are prepared to pay?

I'd email them and tell them the price.
decide what you want for it (also look at completed listings to get an idea as to what it would go for)

TheBlonde · 01/02/2008 15:15

that's where it's tricky, they seem to go for between 18-30 quid and I have a start price of 14.99

just wondering how to get the max price possible

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 01/02/2008 15:16

ask for 30? you never know

bubblagirl · 01/02/2008 15:28

give a over price like 30 pounds or your best offer then seee what there offer is then you may get price you are after

sixlostmonkeys · 01/02/2008 15:31

thats a good idea! you can of course then do the counter offer thing which is really good fun

TheBlonde · 01/02/2008 16:13

oooh can you explain best offer?
how does it work? ebay help doesn't seem to explain much

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 01/02/2008 16:16

add a BIn and tick the box for accept best offer
they put in an offer and you get to chose whether to accept, decline or put in a erm wotzit...counter offer?

so You say £40 or best offer
they offer £25
you get back and say you would accept £37
they come back and offer £32
so say ta very much

or you just accept their first best offer

bubblagirl · 01/02/2008 16:35

if you hav enot been selling long and dont have certian account sometimes this option isnt given but if they have e mailed you then get them to give you best offer via e mail then you can accept it or say was after then give them option of your price as bin

then you can go in and add the agreed price as a fixed bin

TheBlonde · 01/02/2008 19:16

ah it won't give be a best offer option

I hate haggling
