I really do want the item though!

If i tell her that its obvious shes bumping up the price then I probably wont get it, and it will be embarresing if I do because it a 'pick up only'

What to do?

Give someone else the item number and get them to threaten to report shill bidding to her?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/01/2008 18:12

report for shill pidding.

BabiesEverywhere · 14/01/2008 18:12

Personally I would let her other person 'win' the auction. That way she will be out a sale to you, plus the fees to set the auction up

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/01/2008 18:12

Or even shill bidding

bonkerz · 14/01/2008 18:14

i will email her for you if you like and say i am aware she is bidding on her own items!

MrsKittylette · 14/01/2008 18:15

Can someone on here email her?

And say 'i was about to bid until I noticed the person who has bid first seems to have not bought anything from anyone but you, which leads me to believe this person is in fact you, or your husband and the account is simply for shill bidding (bidding on your own item) and is against ebay rules'

Or something

Enid · 14/01/2008 18:15

let her win

then she'll contact you saying the bidder pulled out

ScoobyDoo · 14/01/2008 18:15

I would report her for shill bidding, she won't knows it's you, then she will relist the item probably.

ScoobyDoo · 14/01/2008 18:16

Have you done an advance search? it the other person in the same area?

MrsKittylette · 14/01/2008 18:16

this is the item

If you click on the bidder all his transactions have been with the seller.

Do you think doing this will affect me getting the item?

what Enid says.
Have reported someone for shilling previously - eBay couldn't give a toss.

Misdee · 14/01/2008 18:19

i will tell her i think she is shill bidding and will report her if she doesnt desist immediantly.

Oblomov · 14/01/2008 18:22

seems odd. Mind you it is still only at 99p. How much is it worth ?

Tamum · 14/01/2008 18:26

I would report her for being unutterably crap at shill bidding You usually have to do a bit of trawling, at least!

Flier · 14/01/2008 18:29

you could either report it or you could email her and ask how much she is looking for for it. If you both agree a price she could then remove the listing

sparklygothkat · 14/01/2008 18:32

pmsl at the names, how original!! silly mare!

blueshoes · 14/01/2008 18:54

yes, just put in a low bid eg minimum bid of £1.04. And sit back. You probably won't be the highest bidder. If no one else bids, she might offer to you as second chance offer, maybe not if she thinks it is too low.

Or if you REALLY want it whatever the cost, don't put your bid until the absolute last minute - it has to be a realistic one! So she has no time to outbid you.

LazyLinePainterJane · 14/01/2008 18:57

I would go out of my way to win and then give her negative feedback reducing her rating to 50%. Then no fucker will buy from her HAHA!!

verylittlecarrot · 14/01/2008 19:14

Snipe it.

She will have decided what the minimum bid would be that she would let it go for. It's a sneaky way of "putting a reserve" on wothout being upfront about it. She sounds naive as she probably never expected you to spot the shill bidding.

She won't expect you to snipe and it's the best chance you have of getting it at a reasonable price. Have you decided what you would pay for it?

Enid · 14/01/2008 20:20

fecking hell its only 99p

give her a break and buy the bloody thing for a pound

verylittlecarrot · 14/01/2008 20:26

err... you don't think that the seller has already arranged not to let it go for under, say £20, then? or whatever is her real "reserve"?

serenity · 14/01/2008 20:30

Can I ask why you emailed her in the first place, and didn't just bid? Honestly curious, not been secretly sarky or anything

MrsKittylette · 14/01/2008 21:51

I emailed her to ask about the run that she was talking about in the ad. I was asking how tall it was and if it was enclosed on top, ect ... as its for chickens rather than a dog.

Yes its only 99p at the moment but I dont think shes ONLY bid 99p,

shes probably bid £40 or something!

OP posts:
Fimbo · 14/01/2008 21:57

I think we should all watch it. She'll get excited thinking she has lots of bidders.

Pannacotta · 14/01/2008 22:02

Not much you can do really.
Did you get my emails MKL? no reply as yet...
