Have bought a PS3 on Ebay and the money was debited yesterday on my Credit Card. Today I notice the user is no longer registered so have E-Mailed him but don't expect a reply. What happens now as I'm obviously not going to get a PS3!

Same happenned to me when Xbox 360's first came out. I had saved coppers and loose change for ages, scrimped the odd ten or 20 from the shopping money, all secretly to buy one for DH as a suprise, then got done the same as you.
I put in a claim with paypal and only got £110 back for it.

glaskham · 03/01/2008 15:31

contact ebay....how did you pay? through paypal? if so contact them too....

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/01/2008 15:32

though it was not almost £400 but just shy of £300.

fruittea · 03/01/2008 15:33

I thik if you contact Paypal, you might be able to get an immediate refund? Not completely sure but think this happened to me years back, and you don't have to wait the full time to claim. Check with Paypal, definitely worth pursing.

Lauriefairycake · 03/01/2008 15:34

If on your credit card you will need to contact them and they will refund you - go through the paypal process too and make sure you comply with the ebay procedure fully.

Good luck - I'm certain the credit card people will refund you as it happened to me for something else a couple of years ago and I got my money back from Visa.

Thanks all-git that he is. I paid through PayPal via my Credit Card. Looking at the dispute process I have to wait 10 days before I can dispute anything. and Thought the offer was too good to be true and he had about 10 available. Have been done before with a laptop and lost £100's-I should have learnt my lesson by now.

I brought something from ebay a few months back, and the next day the seller vanished, I was able to put in a pp claim straight away, maybe they have changed it tho

elesbells · 03/01/2008 17:01

contact your credit card issuer now Humphrey, they may be able to do a charge back as it was only yesterday.

good luck

HumphreysCorner · 03/01/2008 17:31

I have just phoned the Credit Card Co and he said I have to go through Paypal first then if no luck I should get refunded by the Bank. The item had Buyer Protection up to £500. He was a shop as well so after being conned with the laptop I thought I had covered every angle.

a shop doesn't mean anything. anyone can have a shop - it doesn't mean it's a business.

good luck with the refund

bubblerock · 03/01/2008 17:45

At least you paid with CC so you're covered - what was his user name?

HumphreysCorner · 03/01/2008 18:00

It was this item.

HC,
It may not be that bad. He has a lot of good feedback. Obv being not registered anymore is a problem, but he may have also not paid his ebay fees.

Out a claim into paypal, but just wanted to let you know that you can become not registered by not paying fees (as we have before, but never had anything being sold).

Also think he's a bit of an arse selling things for that amount knowing he hasn't paid. Really hoping it wasn't a scam.

HTH

HappyMummyOfOne · 03/01/2008 20:31

His feedback looks good but when you actually look at it its for items costing 1p!! Its a trick fraudsters use to get their feedback up before scamming people.

Log with Paypal asap before he has chance to withdraw the funds from his account - he may have already but if he hasnt they can put a hold on the account.

charliecat · 03/01/2008 20:31

most of his feedback is for penny items

HumphreysCorner · 03/01/2008 20:48

Yup-when I look further into his feedback I too see he has only ever sold smaller items before.

Thanks for your help ladies.
