I just sold a pair boots on ebay - An absolute steal in my opinion - lovely brand new boots worth a lot more than the pathetic £6.00 they went for
Anyway the buyers' not happy as they don't fit?
She says there's no way they are the size stated on the boots as she can't even get her foot in to them - they fit me and I'm the same size??
She's asked me for an refund or exchange - but there's exactly as listed IMO
What would you do? If it was me I'd just sell them on - surely that's the risk in using ebay isn't it?? I don't think I should refund on an item that is just what the ad said it was???
Just could do without the negative feedback iynwim

Refund minus the postage and get her to return them at her expense!
She may not want to do this so hopefuly will just keep them!
Do you have a returns policy on the listing?

onefootinthegravy · 06/12/2007 22:03

No I don't stupidly - but to be honest I would refund if I truly believed the item was faulty or not has described

I bet she has fat legs and its those that she can't get in the boots.
If she negs you state in your response that buyer sold a size x boot, labelled as such, but wanted refund claiming that they are not the right size. Looks like she is just after them for free imo. Personally I'd take them back and refund her inc original postage just so she can't wangle them for free, when I have offered to do this for moaners the buyer usually says 'oh its ok I'll keep it'. Hmm.
what would you exchange them for, do you run a shoe shop?

onefootinthegravy · 06/12/2007 22:11

No I don't !!!- I'm just having a bit of a clear out really !!- TBH I was a bit nosey and had a look at her purchases lately and its all maternity stuff so she is obviously pregnant - TBH I probably would have not got them on when I was carrying dd as my ankles and feet swelled up like sausages !!!

Get her to return them recorded delivery, at her expense, then refund her. That is how it paypal wants it done, should there ever be a dispute. It has to be recorded post, for your and her protection, and she has to fund that. I am afraid, to be fair and square, you have to refund the total amount, also the postage, as in truth, she paid that too. She cannot neg you if you follow the rules.

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 06/12/2007 22:12

Also, if they are brand new, the size should still be visible on the boots, actually. Do you have a picture which shows the size?

onefootinthegravy · 06/12/2007 22:15

They are brand new -the size is stamped on the bottom of the boot and its inside on the inner sole too

But can you prove it? Do you have a photograph of it? Are you sure you have not made a mistake in the listing?

I would still refund. Business on ebay is built on trust. If you walked into a shop you would be able to try on the boots. If the boots wont fit, she has the right to return goods by most sellers. In the grand scheme of things ebay, I find that being fair is best, even if I sometimes have to swallow hard and bite my tongue. But, she has to return it recorded delivery, and you wont refund till you have the boots.

maximummummy · 06/12/2007 22:24

you said they sold for less than you expected - maybe you should let her return them without excepting blame - then hopefully sell them again

onefootinthegravy · 07/12/2007 08:47

Well I've offered to refund them less postage, we'll see what happens

Hi there, I've recently bought some gorgeous shoes (to go with the dress I bought, see "Warning: Prom/Bridal/Ball gowns") and they were listed as a size 8 but they're blatantly not, unfortunately the seller has not replied to my Email so I've relisted them (as the total price but with FREE p+p to help them sell) after I've sold them I'm going to give the seller bad feedback as they did not get back to me at all.

If I were you I'd suggest that, if it's possible for them, to re-sell them, using your original info. Or that you offer to pay (it's only about a £1) to list them for her (?) and that she posts them for whoever wins them (and that you send them the money for the postage, so she's not out of pocket at all).
Unless she wants to have to pay to have them sent back to you and that you re-sell them as a half size smaller, or as a "slim fit"?

I suppose when it comes down to it she's paid for them so if she can't physically use them, for whatever reason, then you both need to come to an arrangement. Unfortunately, the way things are in the UK, shoe/dress sizes are different all over the place, I'm an 8 in most places but every so often I'm a 9, so what can I do?!)

That's what I'd suggest, that way you are at least giving her as many options as possible and she can decide which is best for her.
Good luck

Sorry didn't read all of the posts, if she is pregnant then she should know better! (Unless she's buying for a close friend/relly who doesn't have comp access, I do this all the time for my friends)
