you can only cancel it if the auction has more than 12 hours to run

he can cancel the bid. I'll have a look at how to do it....

sixlostmonkeys · 29/11/2007 08:40

pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/questions/retract-bid.html

coby · 29/11/2007 08:41

go into my ebay

click items I'm selling

find the item in question

click on the number of bids

that will bring up a list of bids placed

at the bottom of that page there is a link saying ' see how to cancel bids if you need to'

that will take you through the process, it is easy to do once you know how

hope that helps

coby · 29/11/2007 08:42

or alternatively follow that link!!!

i think it's best that the buyer cancels rather than the seller. Doesn't it show on your FB? - need more coffee so not sure, but pretty sure.... ok I'll shut up now and put the kettle on

sixlostmonkeys · 29/11/2007 08:50

ok I don't think it matters. the only thing is if the seller cancels the buyer can't make any more bids but if the buyer cancels stating he placed the wrong amount by rights he should then place a bid for the correct amount.

sixlostmonkeys · 29/11/2007 08:51

from ebay - Important: Your seller can object to the reason you gave for retracting the bid. For example:

You cancel a bid because you entered the wrong amount, but subsequently don't place another bid with the correct amount. In this case your seller may report that your retraction reason was invalid. We may then take action on your account if we also feel the retraction was invalid.

thank you i did it! yay ! thank you very much indeed!

It doesn't show on your FB as far as I am aware. It shows if you have cancelled bids YOU have placed though which is what puts people off doing it themselves I guess.

I have been asked by bidders if I can cancel their bids for them and I'm quite happy to do it - rather that than ending up with someone who doesn't want the item and you have to relist etc etc.

You give a reason for cancelling the bid anyway which the bidder can see when they get the email from ebay saying it has been cancelled.

Some people just genuinely can't see how to cancel it themselves (it's not made immediately apparent how to do it whether you are bidder or seller I think) and ask the seller to do it before they end up winning.

SLM - any spare water in your kettle? Only came on here to book DD1 into a school and somehow navigated my way onto here afterwards...again

sixlostmonkeys · 29/11/2007 08:53

it will be ok - but you could have prompted him to make another bid if you had told him he should do it - never mind, at least problem is solved for you now

sixlostmonkeys · 29/11/2007 08:55

/me hands coffee to coby

coby · 29/11/2007 08:59

SLM - ahhhh thats better...off to tackle bombsite that is DD1s bedroom...

I quote DD1.... 'mummy, I'm sorry, ALL my clothes have fallen out of my wardrobe, I didn't do it, the guinea pigs (locked in cage downstairs) did'

serves me right for MNing while they are awake

sixlostmonkeys · 29/11/2007 09:04

I too shall be tackling DS's bedroom today!

I shall be simply closing his bedroom door - job done
