what do I do with items that I've received v v late and after winning a paypal dispute for non-receipt?

I won an auction for 2 tops on 18 October. Didn't receive after a week. I contacted the seller who said sorry and would post straightaway. Still not arrived 5 days later so I email him again and no response so I open a paypal dispute and leave negative feedback. Monday I get an email saying Paypal have found in my favour and have issued me a refund. Today the tops arrived!!!!!

What the @??!#??$ do I do? Tops now too small for DD anyway so I won;t get any use out of them.

We're talking about £4.20 here so obvioulsy nothing that will destabilise the international money markets but if I hold onto the tops I'll feel like I'm stealing but returning them is going to cost me postage and hassle which irks me when the whole thing is the sellers fault. BAH!!

No toher contact from the seller by the way or mention of the delay or why he has decided to send them now.

I'd just send the seller the money again

Chopster · 22/11/2007 17:27

give the tops to charity and keep quiet!

talktothebees · 22/11/2007 17:30

But I don't want them now as they no longer fit my DD. I know her rapid growth is not the sellers problem but if he'd sent them when I paid for them over a month ago I would have accepted that was fair dos and I would have got some use out of them. I seriously think he's out of order here if he expects me to pay for them.

what date was on the package? were they delayed in the post?

If they posted them late it could be that something came up or they are just carp at ebaying but tried (too late) to do something right.
If you decide to keep them and not pay i would add them to your blocked buyers list so that they can't get their own back

CarGirl · 22/11/2007 17:32

pass them onto charity or if you're able to sell them on give him what ever you get for them.

talktothebees · 22/11/2007 17:32

at chopster. My DP will agree with you but I have an unconquerable moral angst over such things.

I am very tempted to keep them for a month, and then send them back to him without paying the postage. It's up to him whether he wants to pay to get them released by the post office then isn't it?

Postmarked 21 November. Given that he would have recieved an email on the 19th saying I'd won the dispute and was getting refunded, he's taking the p really isn't he?

crikey! how much do you want to punish him? he's got a strike, a neg, no longer has items, doesn't have the money and now you want him to pay (a purposely inflicted) extra amount to get them back?

Chopster · 22/11/2007 17:36

the thing is tho, the seller won't want them back, and for the sake of £4.20 it isn't really worth him paying postage, then the fees to relist it and sell it again. Also, he is partly to blame for not sending them out more promptly, so I really wouldn't feel guilty about them going to charity at all.

sixlostmonkeys · 22/11/2007 17:36

he may have posted them (despite giving refund) out of guilt?....because of all the trouble he'd put you to... who knows..

talktothebees · 22/11/2007 17:45

ta monkeys and chopster

think I will email him to say thanks mate but I've had my money back and offer to return them to him if he pays the postage.

My DP will PHSL when he hears how much I've worried about this today

and ta monkeys for the virtual glass-of-water-in-the-chops. The mafia lost a great enforcer when they overlooked me.............

I would email him, or write if you have the address, saying the items have finally arrived, what does he want you to do with them? Offer to return them (at his cost) or give them to charity.

It would not be right to keep and use or sell them on, you have been refunded.

Yup, you need to brush up a tad if you wish to join ebay mafia talktothebees

maybe start by sending him this?

talktothebees · 23/11/2007 12:42

now I really didn;t need that. I'd only just recovered from the trauma of seeing a butterscotch the pony video on you tube.....[shudder emoticon]

sixlostmonkeys · 23/11/2007 14:49

Yikes! I've just googled a butterscotch pony (I had no idea about them) - it blinks!

I'm thinking maybe you are getting the hang of this! ...just as the bad ebayer screams at the horses head in his bed.. it blinks at him!!

I'm not bothering with the old fashioned neg from now on - butterscotch is the way to go
