Cheque sent before strikes, not arrived yet

I sold an item jsut before the strkies, the seller sent the cheque (she says) the day before strikes started. it's still not arrived. i emailed her to let her know, and gave her the option of cancelling cheque and sending another.

She ahs replied "I'm not prepared to send another cheque, I'd rather just wait and see if the original one turns up once RM backlog of post has cleared"

how long am I expected to wait? I have been more than reasonable, the strikes finished on the 13th october. Any advice

post is still being held up and I can understand her wishing to wait and see rather than cancel and resend - cos that would cost her a lot of money.

i have had the same problem (sounds like the same person) but today i have asked her to cancel her cheque and send another as i have waited for over two weeks. I would say to her she has 2 choices 1) send another cheque or 2) she does'nt get the item (report an unpayed item)

peskipixie · 28/10/2007 19:28

it costs £12 to cancel a cheque i think, i would want to wait

saltire · 28/10/2007 19:29

Well our bank, Bank of Scotland, don't charge for cheques that are lost in the post.

i waited 2.5 weeks for a small package sent the day before the strikes, it arrived yesterday, sunday. and the postie said they are just starting to clear backlog - i personally would wait and not be too hard on her, its not her fault it has not arrived and would be unfair to expect her to pay cancellation fee in my opinion. I realise its frustrating and not your fault either but you are not alone

Yes, I too have had to wait over 2 weeks to receive a small parcel (sent by recorded delivery!), even though it had been sent just after the strikes had supposedly finished. Sorry but you will just have to be patient.
RM are just sh!t.

Someone on the ebay powerseller board has been told by RM that they are confident that they will clear the backlog by ...........

Nationwide don't charge to cancel cheques. Ask her again to cancel the cheque.

This has happened to me but the other way round! I sent a PO two and a half weeks ago, buyer didn't believe me and reported it unpaid and already left me neg feedback
Can I cancel a PO. Gutted as I'm afraid she may now cash it anyway and I'll have no item and no cash. So annoyed!!!!

sparklygothkat · 29/10/2007 22:29

banks don't cahrge for cancelling cheques that go missing in the post.

dee24 · 29/10/2007 22:54

How can you prove to the bank it was in the post? I know my bank charge, just being curious

ScareBear · 29/10/2007 23:02

i have been waiting 4 weeks for a cheque to arrive from an ebayer, she has promised me she has posted it, it took 2 weeks for a dvd parcle to get here and it really was posted on the day the ebayer had said she posted it, where as another parcel took only 2 days to get here,

i think it depends on your area at the moment
