Paypal Dispute - Do I Close before the Money is Refunded ?

I recently purchased something on ebay which was described as Excellent Condition.

Unfortunately it isn't & the seller & I have agreed I will accept a partial refund.

The paypal dispute is still open & she is saying she is unable to refund me until I close the dispute as the funds are frozen.

Of course, if I close the dispute & she doesn't pay, then that's it.

So how do I get my refund ?

You wont.

It is rubbish that the funds are frozen.

Tell her the dispute stays open till she has paid.

Oh, forgot to say, you cannot open another dispute for the same item if you have closed one. Seller probably knows this.

Also, dont give ANY feedback until this is resolved either

Ok thanks - she is definetely stating that she can't do anything - can you point me to where it says she can please ? would be a great help & shut her up !

Hi,
I can't remember where it says this, but I had a similar situation a year ago. I use to have an ebay shop.

If you want to show her exactly where it says this, you need to either look for it yourself, or ask this question on the EBAY COMMUNITY BOARDS These people are gurus.

Paypal will refund you if you keep the dispute open, but only after you have showed proof of postage by traceable means, IE recorded delivery, when you return the item. In which case you get full refund, but lose out on the postge.

My concerns have been resolved. With this option, no action is taken against the seller's account. A closed dispute cannot be re-opened, so please make sure you are entirely satisfied when closing a dispute using this option. For example, if the seller offers you a full refund, don't close the dispute until you've received the full refund.

found this on e bay for you thought this might help

bubblagirl · 27/10/2007 15:57

I'll offer a refund. The seller can offer you a full or partial refund to attempt to resolve the dispute.

thanks - have written to her, so will see what she says - unfortunately it's a big item, so returning is difficult...

you need to esculate the dispute to a claim if you have not already done this and put in the amount of partial refund you have agreed to, or the seller can do it then it just needs the other party to agree or decline the partial refund if either decline then paypal look at it and take forever to sort it as I know unfortunately!!!!
