Hi. Posted 8 parcels on 10 October signed for recorded and none have turned up yet. Buyers are now sending me nasty emails threatening to report me to ebay for selling non existent goods! wtf?
Has anyone out there ever claimed from Royal Mail? If so, what is the general timescale from making a claim to them settling it? Also, how much do they refund? Do they need to see receipts etc.? I know there is a 15 day waiting period before making a claim but am interested in finding out peoples experiences.
TBH - I can't afford to refund people through paypal as I have used the money to fund other purchases off ebay for christmas presents for my dc's.
I have signed for recorded slips for all of the missing parcels.
HELP!

best to give them a call - RM - as the post is still up the wall as we've only starting getting post last wednesday and will be about another 2 weeks before it be all in order. im in liverpool so the RM had further un-official strikes for another week till last wednesday!..

Tell then to feck off lol! But seriously, tell them to look up the ebay website and they will see that it is asking for buyers patience with these things. I got a parcel today sent 1st class on the 12th! Give them the tracking numbers, if these were pretend it would say so on the Royal Mail tracking section before any of them try to say that.

If you do make claims make sure it is for the total your buyers paid (as RM do not refund postage for some reason?) and ask for the cheque in their names then just send the cheque to them when it is received. Don't refund through paypal if you can't afford to.

Just had a look on the royal mail website and one of the questions is how much I paid for postage? I don't know as the only receipt I have is the recorded slip and nowhere on that does it say how much postage was paid. I charge a flat rate on ebay which covers packaging etc and is not the actual amount of postage I pay royal mail. Do I make a rough guess from the price list on the website and then add on 70p signed for fee?

Put the item value as what the buyer paid in total including postage. Then estimate the cost of postage (even if it mean weighing something similar to get a rough guess) and add the 70p The reason they ask you seperatly is so you think they WILL refund postage (as I used to put total claim as item value plus postage) but then you get a cheque with letter explaining you don't get postage refunded unless send special delivery. Bit of a joke

Thanks for all your help! Have told everyone that they will have to wait until after 2 November at the earliest before I can contact Royal Mail (15 working days). Hopefully, a few may have arrived by then.

Your welcome, if anyone tries to hassle you then just point them in the direction of the Royal mail website.
