I've got a few bits of kids clothing to sell on eBay. Anyone have any tips on how to do this without leaving myself open to scammers?

Photograph everything - every angle, every possible defect. Mention everything - marks, loose threads etc. Every little thing that you think doesn't matter - mention it!
Send everything tracked. Hermes tracked, Royal Mail Signed For (up to £50), Special Delivery for over £50.
After that you just have to hope! Good luck.

Oh and measurements. Measure underarm to underarm and length etc. Give more information than you think you need to. This gives the buyer very little room to complain that it's not as described!

I second getting everything tracked. I still had two people wanting a refund after proof it was posted and delivered. If anyone says something hasn't turned up get them to raise a case ASAP and dont waste time going via your tracked provider first. I have just done this and almost two weeks after selling a buyer then opened a case after weeks of emailing, going via Hermes insurance. I was so pissed off with the time wasting I paid them back as I'm sure it was scammer and it had wasted too much time already.

Also, like in this instance if someone buys a few higher value items then wants to combine postage, consider charging them for signed for delivery. Mine was three lots of small parcel combined into one. I should have sent it signed for.

Make sure you set for profile for buyers is set high and block whoever's you need to.

Put more than a extra 30p onto postage costs. I used to add 60p but have upped it to 70p presuming that I'm going to loose out on postage costs on 5% 10% of sales with people opening lost parcel cases.

Overall it's worth it but protect yourself from making a loss and dont waste time trying to sort out things for ages. Tracked > open case > Ebay will find in your favour hopefully

No need to send recorded unless the value is £20. Royal Mail will insure you for up to that as long as you keep the proof of postage. And if it’s a small or medium parcel then there will be a reference number that confirms delivery.
