Ripped off by Ebay seller?

Help!
Ive been using ebay for years and never had a problem. Please advise me what to do!
Back in September I bought three items from an eBay shop, total cost just under £300, which I can't afford but as I hadn't spent any money on myself because lock down and it was my birthday I felt I needed a treat.

Anyway, tthe items were apparently on pre order.Expected deliverysix weeksfrom date of purchase.

So I waited patiently. The selleris an eBay shop with100% positive reviews and excellent feedbac. The items orderedwere from quite a specialist brand, sso I wasn't worried.

Anyway, last week the expected deliverydate cameand went but no lovelynnew winterccoat or dresses showed up.
I sent a polite email to the sellerto chase up.
The seller responded with an email stating she hadrreceived my items that verydday, (odd that)! and would be posting them after the weekend and would provide shipping details when she did so.

Todaymarks another week and still nothing.
So, for the first time ever I usedthe ebay resolution service to report non receiptof ites.

The sellerhas responded. She has now sent three emails showing identical shipping details for the end of September.

This is a bold lie! In her emails to me sent last week, she acknowledged and apologised for the delay.

I've been fleeced haven't?

I'm so upset. This was supposed to be something lovely to look forward to in the grimness of single parent wfh, no socialising lock down but has turned into a nightmare!

I can't afford to lose £300 for nothing!

She's still on there, claiming to be a shop and taking people's money for goods she isn't going to provide.

How do I take this further with ebay? All emails were sent through eBay so there a record that she's only claimed to have posted in September today.

It's eight weeks since I purchased, is that too late to make a PayPal claim?

Sorry for the ramble. My MH is shot to fuck anyway with isolation and hopelessness. The last thing I need is to feel like a mug over this.

Can anyone advise?

Do the shipping details include tracking numbers, the seller can put a lost report in after 3 weeks.

AngusThermopyle · 05/11/2020 16:35

Can't you just hit the 'other options' item hasn't arrived? that should get ebay involved and you should get your money back.

Jarnsaxa · 05/11/2020 16:39

They do but the seller did not post my items in September.

I have three emails, one for each item, dated last Thursday,in which the seller acknowledgedthe delay and claimed to have only received the items herself that day, (seller is in France, iitems were coming from HongKong).

She said thatshe would post themto me thiswweek and give shipping confirmatio.

I don't know where the September shipping details are from nor if they lead anywhere.

I'm so upset and angry. Ebay seemstto sayi can't follow up until the 10th of November.
Meanwhile, she's free to rip off other people!

The onlyrrecourse I have to leave negative feedback.WWhich is pathetic.

TThanks for replying btw

Open a case with eBay, if you paid by PayPal you will get your money back.

gingerwhinger0 · 05/11/2020 16:46

Paypal is 90 days to make a claim, so get on there asap.

Ebay is approx 1 month after delivery date, to make a claim against a seller. Did she put in her listing that there was a 6 week delay for delivery. Ebay doesn't really like it when you are selling stuff you don't have, so just wondering if she was upfront about the delivery times, or she's messaged you to let you know. If its the latter she's possibly scamming because she knows you can't claim from Ebay after a month. I would phone the Ebay customer services to speak to them and forward all the messages from her.
But put in a claim with Paypal too.

Open a case immediately. eBay are really good, I've never not got my money back after a dodgy transaction.

From your purchases section, find the item click more options, which is usually in the three dots in the top right.
Then possibly might be "report a problem" or simply "my items not arrived"
Fill in the form, keep it factual and don't get into a slanging match.
It's up to the seller then to prove they sent it. But even if it's got lost in transit it'll be up to the seller to chase.
Relax! Honestly, I'm very confident that you'll get your money back.

Jarnsaxa · 05/11/2020 16:48

The tracking reference is fake. I've tried it and it's not a valid format

Have you opened a case? Will it let you? Do that first and I'll see if I can help you through the steps if you want? I'll wait Thanks

Happyheartlovelife · 05/11/2020 16:55

eBay can read your messages

So just tell them to read where it says that she says she's only just received them

Ring ebay up though. Always ring!

Happyheartlovelife · 05/11/2020 16:56

It yes. You have to wait. Then ring them up on that date. At 9am. Explain and they will see in your favour. Ring them now however. Just to warn them to put a note in your file. Get in there before she does.

I'm an eBay seller with great feedback and have sold over 1000 items. I also buy a fair bit.

eBay always decide in the favour of the buyer in every case I've ever heard about. In the past I've been scammed by a very obviously fraudulent ebay buyer out of £200 and eBay still decided in their favour!

They can see your messages. This sounds black and white to me. You have to allow them time to respond to the case. So I appreciate it does mean you're out of pocket right now. But I am certain you will get your money back once they look at the case and decide in your favour.

I hope this can help out your mind at rest a little.

Be optimistic (I know!) could the September tracking details be from the order in Hong Kong to show she has ordered and the recent one her sending the items from France to you.

Which courier did she use, I presume one based in France they can be tricky to track, if you want you can email me the tracking detail I can check? I recently had to track a parcel through 3 different countries.

But yes you could open an EBay case now as they’ll contact her directly and ask for proof of postage.

CodenameVillanelle · 05/11/2020 17:18

Don't panic, you'll get the money back. If she can't provide genuine tracking details to prove you've received them then eBay will accept that you haven't.

tommika · 05/11/2020 17:27

You normally have 30 days to raise an eBay dispute but 6 months on PayPal

If the option is still available on your eBay transaction then raise it as a dispute, if not then go through the help options to contact customer services
Otherwise do the same via PayPal

Thank you for all your replies so far! I will be taking all of your advice!

I'm embarrassed that I'm being such a tit over shopping! I'm usually quite chill but things like this really seem to be able to tip me over the edge right now.

You've really calmed me down though. I can even type properly now!

To clarify, yes, the seller did show in her post that the expected delivery date was three to six weeks from the date of order but they're unusual items and she had 100% positive feedback from over 2000 customers so I wasn't worried.

I've tried the tracking reference she gave me in both the courier she claimedtto have used website and also on 17 track.
But nothing. Its a completely made up number!

Don't know what she's playing at!

Thanks for the flowers BTW!
