I won some ladies boots from e bay.

I was the only bidder and won them at £5.99,postage cost £6.00,so £11.99 in total.

Got an e mail from the seller and it said they had put the wrong starting price and they had sent me a another invoice.
The new invoive has had another £11.99 added so total £23.98

I have e mailed them and pointed out that I was a bit confused by this and had they made a mistake and am waiting their reply.

What can I do if they refuse to change it.

Can they do this after I have won the boots at £5.99?

no they can't do this.
If they made a mistake they have to stand it.

What would have happened is they didn't get as much as they wanted for it - and they hope you are going to fall for it.
If they wanted more they should have started the bidding higher.

Of course you cannot force them to sell - but you can file a dispute for non performing seller, see if they will sell after all, if not let the dispute run its course and then neg 'em.

Got a reply and she said she had made a mistake and the message was meant for someone else.

errrr...i don't think so somehow! By the sounds of it they were trying it on and fortunately you weren't dumb enough to just pay the invoice!

sunflowervalley · 14/10/2007 14:47

That had crossed my mind.

They only had 8 feedback so maybe they were unsure about the rules on e bay, although I doubt it.

Any seller is well aware of the rules of Ebay but unfortunately there are those people out there who will always try it on and, again, unfortunately there are those people out there who are that vulnerable to pay it.

I didn't think it were possible to up the sale price when the listing is finished - I know you can alter the p&p charges and add on or make a discount but to actually change the sale price is, without doubt, well against ebay rules.

I've sold lots of bits and bobs before and sold for far less than what I'd have liked for the item - the risk you take with ebay - but that's just tough on me and well done to the buyer!
