Hi,
This is to do with buying off ebay which I do regularly as I have 3 kids under 6 & its a pain to drag them round shops for clothes etc.(I also do sell occassionally too)
Anyway,my postie always makes some rude or cheeky comment when he delivers my parcel-i.e 'that ebays a pain in the neck you know'/haven't you got anything better to do than shop on ebay all day' or if I'm not at door I hear him throw parcels in to porch with a totally unnecessary thud!
The thing is he's delivering letters anyway to me or dh & often the front door is open as we have an inner porch so he doesn't have to ring doorbell or anything if parcel doesn't fit letter box he just has to lay it in the porch. Also parcels are never heavy or bulky, just little as usually kids stuff.
The first few times he commented I just ignored him,but this last couple of weeks I bought a few things & his comments have been getting ruder & ruder-
Was just wondering if anyone else who likes to buy on ebay has experienced anything simliar from their postie who is obviously very anti-Ebay?
I have had about 5/6 parcels the last 2 weeks, but I can go weeks without anything-Am i really adding to his workload that much-he makes out that I am?
Sorry for rambling on so much....

ignore him, obviously you can't piss him off too much cos he is the postie. just ignore teh comments he is a dick

charliecat · 24/09/2007 13:44

Its his JOB, your ebaying is keeping him in it. Ignore.

if it wasn't for internet shopping haven taken off so much in the past few years I reckon the Post Office/Royal Mail would be even worse off than they are at present. What's the point of being a postie if you resent delivering mail?

3Ddonut · 24/09/2007 13:48

What an A-hole! It's his JOB!!! The postmaster at our local post office used to moan about the amount of parcels I was sending, so I went elsewhere and then he got closed down!!! hahahaha!!! (sorry, I know it's his livelihood) If it's gets too bad, I'd report it. (or threaten him, i.e ask for his supervisors name)

daisyandbabybootoo · 24/09/2007 13:48

next comment he makes, use charliecat's line, LOL

agree...ignore him, it's none of his business.

no wonder they lost the massive squillion £ Amazon contract then....

ruddynorah · 24/09/2007 13:54

i hear mine knock when i'm invariably upstairs bathing dd (do baths in the morning), obviously i can't leave her alone in the bath to get the door, so i then hear postman shoving and forcing and stuffing the parcels through the letterbox. always ripped, always squished. we have a nice courier lady who brings parcels from next, she places things under the car, so not squashed or torn. she is very nice.

Tell him to get his money back from the charm school.

My postman says I get more post then any of the shops on the High Street! The guy covering his holiday recently was a bit snooty though. And it's not things I buy on ebay all the time. It's things I buy on here!

BettyBatShapedSpaghetti · 02/10/2007 15:15

Sounds like he's been getting tips off the staff in most PO's who look so bloody hacked off when you go in with parcels, packages etc.

They don't appear to realise that ebay, the internet and mail order shopping has stopped some POs from closing and created more jobs in some areas.

One of our local POs was faced with closure a few years ago but an increase in the trade I've mentioned means it stayed open (according to one of the guys who works there)

saltire · 02/10/2007 15:16

Tell him you'll use the TNT lot next time!

fedupwasherwoman · 02/10/2007 15:23

Tell him you're sorry to inconvenience him by expecting him to actually deliver post items. Which part of his job description does he not understand ?

Alternatively shame him by saying that you support the postal workers in their fight against changes in terms and working conditions so perhaps he'd like to pick on someone else who doesn't support them.

Get a big hungry poodle to welcome him every morning

tylah · 03/10/2007 00:36

I buy all the time off of eBay and my postie is always making a joke about it like, 'Only the 5 today'. I always get parcels delivered every day.

I wouldn't say anything rude back, you do rely on him delivering them and if you annoy him he might just take his time delivering your items.

Try and make a joke out of it and lighten the mood. Maybe tell him they'll be a box of quality street in it for him at Xmas.
