I bought what I thought were Doctor Marten boots but it's clear they are poor copies. They don't fit me well and feel and look like wellies. That said, the advert is "DM style boots" so technically, I suppose they haven't broken any rules.

I've contacted seller and asked that I return them. They've agreed and asked that I post them WITH a postage certificate. I assume that's a proof of postage certificate? I thought I held onto that in case they went missing in the post?

Ask them what they mean by this. Perhaps it's an import/export requirement if they came from overseas.

hettysdrawers · 27/12/2019 09:45

You could send them a picture of the proof of postage which will have their post code on.

WelshMoth · 27/12/2019 10:36

I asked them - they said it's the certificate of postage that the Post Office will give me when I send the parcel. They want it INSIDE the parcel. Surely this is for me to keep just in case there's a problem? It's to a UK address.

I feel like their trying to pull a fast one - so they can claim to have not received and I will be lacking in proof of postage.

Yes they are trying to pull a fast one

hettysdrawers · 27/12/2019 10:39

Erm. That's really odd- also that would mean you have to pay for the parcel then unwrap it at the post office to put the receipt in Confused

I would tell them you'll send them a pic of it and retain the original in case it is lost, that shouldn't make any difference to them.

QueenOfTheFae · 27/12/2019 10:42

that's bonkers!

They've agreed and asked that I post them WITH a postage certificate. I assume that's a proof of postage certificate?

they'll have proof when it arrives, no point sending proof of posting with the item you are posting....

WelshMoth · 27/12/2019 10:46

I'll send a reply now telling them that they can have a picture of the proof of postage certificate - I'll email them a pic of it, but I'll be keeping the original just in case.

Thanks everyone - I thought perhaps I was being a bit dim.

Send signed for delivery with tracking

HeavenlyEyes · 27/12/2019 12:48

you need to send back fully tracked - proof of postae is not enough!

Sending a pic of anything is worthless.

WelshMoth · 27/12/2019 14:24

Thanks! Off to Post Office now and will get the parcel tracked and pay for signed for as well.

Make sure you complete the return through the eBay resolution centre. If there are any disputes further down the line this will strengthen your case.

19lottie82 · 27/12/2019 15:23

you need to send back fully tracked

In the event of a dispute Regarding a return, full tracking isn’t required, just proof of (or attempt of) delivery.
