Tricked into accepting return

This has happened twice to me now and I’m so so fed up: Buyer requests return, I’ve clicked on ‘accept return’ just to see what the options are, expecting a CONFIRM button later. Ebay takes the fact that I’ve clicked on ‘accept return’ as confirmation. I’m trapped in. Surely there should be a confirm button?!? I can’t believe their system is so flawed, why are they trapping their customers into things they don’t want to do?!

For background, the buyer initially requested the return due to description error. We amicable established that there was no listing error and agreed that I’d accept the return but wouldn’t refund/pay for return postage costs.

I am now trapped into refunding postage costs😬 if I do it officially.

Just spoke to them on the phone and they said the only other way of doing it is for her to return it herself and for me to refund via PayPal (minus initial postage costs) once it’s received back. However, I’d then need to call eBay to get them to refund their fees. It’s such a messy Mickey Mouse way of doing it.

Also, another flaw: The buyer has requested a return under the wrong category, inaccurate description. If she cancels the return she won’t be able to open another one up under the ‘changed my mind’ category. Why the hell cant she cancel the request and reopen in the correct category?!! Another eBay trap.

Honestly, I can’t believe eBay is so flawed! Is this because they truly don’t give a monkeys about their sellers? 😤

You can hardly say you were tricked if you read the button that said CONFIRM? And then did it second time?

To be honest I think the issue is with you rather than eBay, sorry.

There is no confirm button though, it’s v confusing

You clicked the button that said ‘accept return’ and now you’re surprised you have to accept the return? Did I read that right? Confused

You clicked 'ACCEPT RETURN' and you think you were tricked Confused

Twice!

dontalltalkatonce · 07/12/2019 14:56

Eh? 'Accept Return' means . . . you're accepting a return.

georgialondon · 07/12/2019 18:18

Accept and confirm pretty much mean the same. Why would they say it twice.

bottlenose301 · 07/12/2019 18:29

Have to agree with everyone else.

You say it's happened to you twice, so why would you do it the second time knowing the first time what happened?

Coatzillaclaus · 07/12/2019 21:34

First time was ages ago so I’d forgotten it until it happened again. I am actually accepting the return but had arranged to just refund the cost of the item, not the postage as the buyer just changed their mind. Really I needed to do a partial refund, clicked on accept return to see what the options were. Most online actions come with a confirm button. That’s all.
