If order cancelled against your will, do you always open a non performing seller case?

Just that really.
I've had lots recently, someone on another thread suggested it was the auto realist feature and people have sold them elsewhere as the excuse is always that it's been sold elsewhere.
When I've messaged "okay, but can you be more careful next time because as a buyer it is very disappointed" I've recieved messages back with sob stories and how I'm rude to even question it.
No idea if I am but apparently "the polite thing to do is just get over it".
Anyways, I'm normally not a sucker for sob stories but recently I tried to buy something on shpock, got lost, and when I messaged the seller asking for help I got no reply for 30 minutes so I went home, they then left me feedback calling me a liar and a time waster and they know I was nowhere near their house as they have CCTV 🤨 it actually really pissed me off because if they'd messaged me back they could have helped (they gave me the house number and postcode but not the street name and the sat nav was taking me round in circles).
So I know just because it looks bad it isn't always the case. But I'm sick of winning bids, paying immediately, then getting an email a day or 2 later saying they'd sold it else where and won't he sending it.
So, someone people have told me to get a grip and to not bother messaging anything as its rude to contact when theres nothing that can be done and their personal circumstances mean Ebay and my disappoint are just not important.
Now, would you still open a case and leave bad feedback? They've made me feel a bit guilty but then I'm also a hit sceptical.

I'm referring to Ebay here, as I have no experience on Sphock or whatever its called.
As a buyer you expect the item that you have paid for. In my eyes it's poor administration of the seller to not keep on top of what items of theirs are available if they actively have them listed for sale.
If it's auctions I suspect the price which you won the item at was too low for the seller to be pleased to sell it at, so they lie and make up an excuse like it's not available or it got lost etc.
I would leave negative feedback if a seller was rude, however if they have been nice about it and refunded you right away then I don't think I would. It's a funny one, but they can't leave negative feedback for you anyhow as a buyer.
Make sure they refund you, if they don't then open up a item not received case. Ebay will do the rest.
As for someone telling you not to message the seller etc, that's nonsense, EBay promotes messaging sellers first before opening any cases. You need to message the sellers to enquire about it don't you?

If a seller sent me messages like you have described above I would leave negative feedback. There is no need to send you messages in that tone.

I've just left negative feedback for some twat who spoke to me about an item, yesterday, let me win it today, then messaged straight away to say they'd decided to sell it on gumtree instead. They are now whining that I've negged them. Actually this is the first time I've ever done that.

eBay is shit these days.

Moomin8 · 28/08/2019 20:57

In the case above, the item was not for sale. If they want a particular price then they can put it on buy it now.

I just had an immediate refund on a BIN purchase with no explanation at all, and positive FB left.

When I tried to contact the seller I had been blocked. There was no reason for it.

It takes a week or so for the refund to actually process and I was annoyed as they did it twice so I opened a not received case on one of them which finally got a response. Apparently the item was damaged or out of stock.

I did not close the case.

I just think that people on eBay are not honest any more.

Honeyroar · 29/08/2019 23:10

How do you leave negative feedback for an item when the sale was cancelled? It's just happened to me, after 14 days of waiting, without so much as a word from the seller, just a message from eBay that the sale was cancelled and I'd been refunded. I've just messaged the seller saying an explanation/apology might have been polite.

Moomin8 · 29/08/2019 23:15

You click on the item you purchased and it gives you the option to leave feedback.

I think sellers should be negged if they don't make good on a sale. Obviously there are genuine situations but when someone just decides it hasn't sold for enough then that's a cheek. If they want a specific price then put it on buy it now.

Honeyroar · 29/08/2019 23:36

The option to leave feedback doesn't seem to be there.

Moomin8 · 29/08/2019 23:41

You can alternatively report a non performing seller to eBay. I think the option to give feedback should be there for 60 days.
