Been scammed (via fake "not as described") on eBay - want to cry

I've had a really good run so it was only fair I'd get a scammer.

I don't accept returns. Clearly stated in the listing. Having receive the item he has decided he spent too much (he literally said that in his messages) so has opened a "not as described". eBay have sided with him despite my repeated calls to them pointing out his "complaint" actually matches the description, as do his pictures.

I am so so so so angry I literally want to cry.

I have lost out on postage and because of a fuck up with a return address I now need to pay out of pocket for the return too.

I fully plan on getting revenge by:

a) Buying one of the items he is currently selling and doing exactly the same to him

and

b) Telling him I plan to inform his employer - a financial company (which is where his listed address is) - that they are hiring a scammer.

I think the way eBay lets scammers operate is an absolute disgrace.

If you tell him you are going to his employer he can report you to ebay for it.

Be very careful about telling his employers. If he is after making a purchase from you, it could be considered a business transaction and you got his work details from this transaction then telling his employer could be seen as a data breech.

You have to suck it up i'm afraid. If you go down the revenge route, you will get kicked off ebay. It is one of their policies for revenge issues. Do yourself a favour and forget it.

Wow. You’re obviously very hard-up for a tenner.

Do you operate as a company? If so, taking a customer’s email address and using it for purposes other than the reason it was gathered could land you in serious hot water.

Apart from that, it’s a horrible thing to do. He’s done the equivalent of returning a t-shirt to Next and you’re threatening his job?!

Take your tenner and use it to buy a mirror to take a long hard look at yourself.

I’m sure it’s frustrating op and scammers are awful but you’re taking it a bit too far. It sounds a bit stalkery. To be honest if I were the employer and you contacted me I would dismiss it because you would sound quite unhinged.
Yes it’s annoying, but it’s the downside to eBay - I’m surprised it hasn’t happened to you before. If this is making you so upset and frustrated that you want to cry and get this guy fired I think you need to take a step back from eBay selling to be honest.

Ebay can be such a minefield!

We bought an iPhone once - we chose 64gb and received a much cheaper 8gb! Ebay were a nightmare but eventually conceded that it wasn't acceptable... Hmm

Another scam is saying collection only, the buyer pays by PayPal, collects it, then tells ebay they never received it. PayPal then offer the buyer a full refund unless you can provide a proof of postage?! Crazy.

I think this buyer is being really unfair to you. Try speaking to ebay again. Open another appeal. Write a letter. Don't let it drop. And leave bad feedback!

Ive just returned an item on ebay because it was too small. It’s tough. That’s retail. Sell it on Gumtree if you don’t like ebay policies. To take revenge out on people over this is psycho.

I think you need to understand Ebay a bit more before you continue to sell on there. He is not a scammer. He is just exercising his rights to return, wether you agree with the reason or not.
Also not as described cases are automated, you can never win a "item not as described"case. Either you refund, accept the return, or Ebay do it on your behalf, which will result in a defect on your account once Ebay step in and make a decision.
Also his work probably wouldn't bat an eyelid, you're going way OTT and are being ridiculous.

You need to chill. I know it's annoying, but that's Ebay for you. You take the good with the bad.

That’s the way eBay is you can state no returns but if the buyer opens a case they will always win under the eBay guarantee. Whether it’s item not received (unless signed for) or not as described, sellers have very little protection.

Was it a used item? We all have different interpretations of 'excellent condition'. I have bought items in the past that have arrived with stains on them.

Maybe not obvious to everyone but I wouldn't use it & even had to return an item through eBay as seller was arsey about it, even though I sent photos as soon as I'd opened the post. She refused to accept the return & it was sent back to me! Went to charity shop in the end.

Think you have to explicitly describe how your buyer has shown the item is ‘not as described’ and then explain how you think it is ‘as described’. For example, if you say ‘excellent condition’ but it’s pretty worn out, I’d be cheeses off paying too much for something that’s not ‘excellent t. So if he messaged you saying he wasn’t happy paying what he did (because he now sees its not in the condition you described) I think you should have offered some mo he back (if you can do that, I’m no expert?!). Only thing he could do is put up a dispute to get this resolved else??
