I've got this item on at the moment, the aution ends on Saturday

I have no bids yet but have 6 watchers so far

I've just had a message asking me how much I would accept for the item to end the bid early and don't know what to do

I've never been asked this before and have no experience of whether it is a good idea or not - PLEASE HELP!!!

I have been asked this several times in the past and I always say no - it would not be fair on everyone else watching.

I never accept an offer to end the auction early, if they really want the item then they will be prepared to bid on it. Also I think it's against eBay regs (not that I give a monkey's about that really as they are always so pernickity about the wording of listings )

you can just add a buy-it-now option for the amount you would like - then reply to them telling them you have done this

thanks for your help i think i'll say no actually your right noodlestruddle it wouldn't be fair on the other bidders i wouldn't like that to be done to me

Just ask them to make you an offer and see what they come back with - it may be more than you thought! You can ask them to put a bid on and then end the auction early to the current bidder, and then just adjust the postage on the invoice to make it up to the amount they offered. Someone did this for me recently, I think it saves on listing fees as opposed to putting a buy-it-now on.

If it actually had any bidders at the moment that might be different, but having so many watchers doesn't really mean anything - unless they've made bids they can't complain IMO! I watch stuff all the time, but only actually put a bid in on a small percentage of these. You're trying to make some money at the end of the day, you should do what's in your best interests (within reason obv.!)

flibbertyjibbet · 13/06/2007 10:43

I've sometimes been asked to do this and usually reply with 'thanks for your interest but others are watching and I would prefer to let the auction run its course'. THe times its happened to me the item has always gone for more than they are offering.

BabiesEverywhere · 13/06/2007 10:45

Many people on Ebay (me included) don't bid until the last minute to avoid pushing up the value of the auction for no reason.

So a couple of the 'watchers' are properly going to bid later on.

Bu if in doubt adding a Buy It Now button at a cost higher than you expect to get could work in your favor too.

thank you so much for you help with this i think i will ask the person to make an offer or just let it takes its course - thanks again
