Paypal refund the whole amount I think ( pretty sure) but beware that the seller can then leave you neg feedback. Do they not have a proof of postage cert?

Useless people! Go for paypal - it took me only 10 days to get the refund, but then had a big fat neg for my trouble.

I reported on day 18, escalated at end of day 20 - couldn't be bothered to wait any longer!

I've had one item lost in the post that I sent - it was a personal item not a shop item and I issued a refund immediately for the full amount and reclaimed my money from the post office (proof of postage) I even sent the lady some more items for free (football stickers) as her little boy was really upset. I think the seller should give you a full refund - proof of postage is free, they should have covered themselves.

It's just the way that it works. They will be out of pocket as Royal Mail tend not to refund postage costs when you make a claim through them for lost mail.

However, that should not be your cost to swallow. They should refund you.

yup, escalate to a claim and you will get the full lot.
£6 is £6, a neg is a little dot on the screen

How long have you been using ebay? what feedback have you got?

If you are new I would be tempted to take the neg and either ignore it (if it's one of only a couple, it doesn't matter) or start all over again.
