Item doesn't fit - refund request

Oxfordblue · 18/08/2018 08:22

My DH sold a BNWT dress on eBay but the seller has asked for a refund as it doesn't fit.

What's the best way to accept the return without losing the cost of P&P?

Thanks

If you accept the return you’re still responsible for refunding the outgoing postage costs. (Although the buyer must cover return costs).

I don’t accept non fault returns on my private account. I’m not a shop. If a buyer leaves non positive feedback because of this, eBay will remove it.

What do you think he should do then? Say no? Won't ebay side with the seller?
Thanks Smile

Depends on time limits. There is a thing called a cooling off period, gives a buyer 14 days to return and be refunded, regardless of the reason, including return postage.

Claw that only applies to business alerts, not if you buy from a private seller.

PS and it doesn’t include return postage, the buyer is responsible for that.

OP it’s up to your DH if he accepts the non fault return, but I don’t accept them as a rule, as they are a whole lot of hassle and ou end up out of pocket for the original postage costs.

Ebay won’t side with the buyer if they want to return the item because it doesn’t fit as this is classed as a change of mind or non fault return.

There is always the risk that the buyer will then open a not as described case that you will be forced to accept and also cover the return postage (this is the type of case where ebay usually sides with the buyer!) but the chances of that are slim, and I’ve never had that happen to me in my 13 years of selling on eBay.

Sorry ignore me! You are quite right!

Watch out if you are selling clothes that are a bit vintage. A 1998 size 10 is not the same as a 2018 size 10.

It's about 4 years old, so same sizes as what's in the shops.
I think DH is going to suck it up Sad
