Hi.
I brought a bookk of a person on ebay (i think it may even be a shop) and it clearly stated no price clipped or pen pencil marks. When it arrived it has lots of writing in like refrences it didnt matter too much but thought it was wrongly advertising so put nuturel feed back saying good item but marks in it when stated not. They have now left me negative feedback with somw rather vulagar things and saying i shouldnt be trusted etc.. and also sent me a message about something im selling saying 'im bidding and im going to come and collect them - see you soon my friend'which I dont know whether is supposed to be menacing, they are also bidding on 2 other things.
Ive emailed ebay telling them all this and that I want them removed and never want that person to contact or bid again but they sent an automated response which was nothing to do with it.
I dont know what to do im so upset I had 100% positive feedback before this and now anyone seeing that is not going to trust me again!

(sorry was to franny - you and me both being shocked it's a woman)

FrannyandZooey · 02/06/2007 14:51

Yes to sell someone a porn mag and then make a jibe about it in the feedback! Real class, that one did have me LOL actually

I* actually think eBay should be reported to Watchdog. multi bullion dollar company, and all they can do is send out automated emails. I understand the magnitude of eBay, but they should have staff to treat their customers (buyers and sellers) with the care they deserve.

when someone receives an item not as described (or whatever problem it might be), I dont think automated messages sooth the already freyed and wound up receiver of the item.

Ive had heaps of stuff come trhough from sellers, NOT as described. Ive given up ever wanting to contact eBay because their procedures are far too lengthy and more often than not, end up not being resolved.

just my opnion of course, and most probably not helping you Alfie. But there are heaps of out there victims of this unwholesome attitude of sellers etc. very really. xx

glad its sorted now

I can not believe that people are allowed to leave the feedback they do.

I know being a seller that it can be a little frustrating people leaving neutral/neg without emailing first, but it does not give them the right to threaten people.

I once came accross an ebayer who was extremely rude to people, I was amazed at what he was actually allowed to put, and its the worst i have ever yet come across

Unless anyone can name anyone else. He did get tame in his later time on ebay.

FrannyandZooey · 02/06/2007 18:23

That one is pretty mad as well bouncy, but I think what was written on the OP's feedback was much worse...

AlfieJacksmummy there is no way you deserved such shoddy treatment from this seller, but in future, you might want to be a little more careful about who you buy from. Your seller had 98.2 % feedback which sounds great but is actually rather poor. Approx 2 out of every 100 people he has sold to, have been so unhappy that they have left a negative (not something most people do lightly). That is pretty bad.

Next time you are buying check feedback first and in particular look at negatives taken and given (use the toolhaus website I linked to earlier to fish out the negative comments if they have a large feedback score). Hope you don't mind the advice - no-one should have an experience like you had - but you can protect yourself to a certain extent when buying on eBay.

sixlostmonkeys · 02/06/2007 19:02

I agree with Franny (I keep doing that!)

Always best to read the comments and not just rely on the percentage.

I've been giving a friend of mine this advice today - along with a lot of other advice as she KEEPS getting ripped off.

anyhoo - hope you are feeling better now it's gone - I really did/do feel for you.

munz · 02/06/2007 21:25

franny - i've just brought something (well over 6 weeks ago now) from a lady with 99.6% feed back (I normally only deal with 100% FB but thought this was worth the 'risk' i'm currently talking to the police about her as she's stolen my money and not sent any items. so in some respects even the honest ones can fool you. only thing I will say now is i'll NEVER write a bank cheque again it will always be paypal.

FrannyandZooey · 02/06/2007 22:20

Oh dear, what a shame munz. I do hope you can sort it out.

I actually think the percentage feedback part is very misleading - I mean if you hear that someone has 95% positive feedback that sounds great, doesn't it? However when you get to know the ins and outs of the eBay feedback system you realise that 95% is ruddy CRAP and you shouldn't go near them

FrannyandZooey · 02/06/2007 22:22

(I would be talking about a seller with a feeback in the hundreds or thousands there, btw. I know anyone can have bad luck or make a mistake and end up with a low feedback percentage while they are still new, but for an experienced eBayer to have feedback like that, they must be consistently getting things WRONG)

AlfieJacksmummy · 02/06/2007 23:12

Ah Munz im so for you that is such a cheek!
Im starting to worry now that ebay isnt as great as it seems, they really need to tighten up on some stuff dont you think?
They had the cheek to send me a customer support survey to fill in about how happy I was with their service!!! Can you guess what I put
