Is there any way to prevent eBay from continually adding "best offer" to my listings?

Sorry if this has been covered. It's driving me around the twist. I'd have thought there'd be a way to turn it off centrally rather than continually having to go into each individual listing and disable offers when eBay unilaterally decides to activate them.

Anyone found a way around it?

I can't even see where to turn the automatic relist off, so am going into each listing on the dropdown as helpfully described above.

You really have to keep up with it though - what with that and remembering to remove the automatic international postage (something else I can't be bothered to deal with at the moment).

Once you get a listing that works how you want it to, save it as a template and use it as 'sell similar' and see if that helps.

I stopped using good til cancelled because I was being charged for the relists.

I haven't listed for a couple of weeks but prior to that I was using the advanced listing form rather than the quick one (or whatever they call it now) and was able to remove the best offer. However most of the time I just list at a bit more than I want and set the minimum I am prepared to accept on it so that it will auto reject lower offers. I do not set it to accept though as I like to see what kind of feedback the buyer has before I accept.
If it makes a difference I am a private seller of many years but I think they try different things out on groups of unsuspecting sellers to see what happens.

Yep, eBay are definitely getting sneaky! I've had a break from eBay over the summer & have recently listed some things using the app & it's really annoying how things have changed: listing fees are being automatically added (unless you accept offers) as are auto-relists (with fees, of course) etc.

It's no longer the way to sell on all your old stuff. Between the listing & selling fees, charging fees on postage & being so biased against sellers, I'm
now moving to selling most things on local FB pages or gumtree.

I think they've really shut themselves on the foot with this one.

Glad I'm not the only one feeling frustrated. I regularly have a clear out and try and sell a few bits and bobs on ebay. I'm not looking to make a fortune just hoping to make a few pounds and keep items out of landfill. I am sure people have sometimes had a good bargain from me.

However, now I have to allow offers or I get charged for listing, then with the fees and the constant relisting its just not worth it anymore. I think ebay are trying to get rid of small sellers they have been very sneaky with all of these changes.

ProseccoThyme · 25/09/2018 22:49

All that seems to be happening is that private sellers are raising their starting prices & accepting offers for about £1 less.

I'm also ignoring their suggested starting price & trying to ensure it doesn't re-list.

I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth selling anything for less than £5.

They've now removed the "Remove Automatic Relist" option from all of my listings so I've given up and just cancelled them. That seems to be literally the only way to stop automatic relist now. Haven't tried listing them afresh to see if it's even still an option, I just can't be bothered with eBay any more.

Quim Hello! I've also found the only way to stop auto relist is to cancel. So you're not alone. Very annoying - and I still haven't sold those bloody shoesSmile

Oh no, this is depressing! I’m just about to start listing, I’ve got loads to sell! I used to make a lot of money on eBay a few years back, sounds like it’s not so small seller friendly anymore Sad

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 04/10/2018 11:27

Judas I've mostly avoided the listings fees because although we have a lot to sell, I just don't have the time to crunch through enough listings in a single month. But the auto-offers and the auto-relist are really, really annoying.

Auto-offers is especially hacking me off, because I end up wasting time having to review and decline stupidly low offers well under my auction starting price. Grrr.

Oh howdy there Quant!

I was utterly perplexed when I realised I couldn't turn off Automatic Relist, I posted a screengrab here the other day of the option on the dropdown and now it's just gone. Of all the sneaky things they've done in the last couple of months, I think disabling that option is the most jaw dropping. Do they just not want our custom any more? Because that's the only possible outcome I can see. Force me to cancel my listing and it's unlikely I'll bother starting it all over again just to try and get around the Automatic Relist option. The items have been up for ages without a nibble anyway, they might as well just go to the charity shop.

I'm trying to work out what model they're going for here. They seem to be trying to drive all prices down, which surely affects their profits? Do they envision a world with squillions of items being sold at 45p? It's a self-fulfilling thing I'd have thought, the moment they start to normalise super-cheap listings, the slightly more expensive ones will start to be ignored, and you won't be able to sell anything for more than a quid.

I think ebay are trying to be Amazon and driving private/smaller sellers to gumtree (which I think ebay owns)
When is a real competitor to the old style ebay going to arrive in the UK.
Maybe craigslist? Or is that owned by eBay now?
