I have a Mountain Buggy Duet which was purchased in 2014. It's been sitting in a cupboard for the last year and I really need the space. The still seem reasonably popular on ebay but I'm a bit nervous of getting it all wrong.

I have MB accessories for it too - 1 carrycot, 2 sleeping bags, a single storm cover for the carry cot, plus a single storm cover for use on the other seat, and the double storm cover. I also have a mesh sun net thing. I have the original pram box, plus the box for the carrycot, and most of the carry bags for the various accessories.

It does need a new grip and you have to buy a whole new handlebar from MB at around £30(!) DH reckons it's not worth us buying and replacing for sale and just making sure we price it to reflect that.

I've been looking at couriers because our location is a bit rural but I'm at a loss as to the most cost-effective carrier. I'm thinking it's going to need 3 parcels.

To get to my actual questions(!), should I do a fixed-price because of the handlebar issue or run as an auction? Any courier services recommendations would be appreciated too. And any other advice/suggestions very welcome.

Personally I wouldn’t sell it on eBay. It will be a whole load of hassle (and expense) to package up and post. And then there’s a good chance you will have some idiot not reading the listing properly and opening a return request, then there is a good chance you will have to cover the return postage AND refund.

Personally I’d list it on Gumtree it Facebook, buyer to collect, pay cash, sold as seen.
Plus you won’t have to pay the 13% ebay and PayPal fees.

Thanks for the reply.

What you say makes a lot of sense and I doubt I'd get that much so ending paying return postage would really hurt. The reason I was considering Ebay with P&P was to cut down on time-wasters/no shows etc as I am very short on space so it's boxed up out of the way. Plus with our location it will take longer to sell. My latest thinking is to scrap selling it as a whole and just see what I can get for the accessories and parts that are in good order.

Check Facebook selling sites as well. If it is priced right someone will buy it.

Or see if any ntc groups are doing a nearly new sale.

We sold our twin out and about buggy on ebay. My husband had it on auction with a starting bidding price. He also had a buy it now price. We advertised it as pick up only. Infact we sold most of our twin bulk stuff this way. We did get someone arrange courrier pickup on some of the other bits we sold

Thanks all.

If it didn't need the new grip/handlebar I would be less wound up about selling it. I think I just need to bite the bullet and get it sale-ready, price it right and try the free sites. Our location is a real minus for collection-only ebay so probably not worth the fees.

I sold an out n about double buggy on Facebook selling pages. I’m also in a rural area. I found potential buyers asked me to drop the price significantly (I had researched and it was in line with others on gumtree/Facebook).

I ended up delivering the buggy to a buyer some distance away to achieve the price I wanted. She lived in an area I had been planning to have a day out in anyway. My XH came with me as I was a little nervous about exchanging in a hotel car park, especially with DD in tow, but the buyer was totally genuine and lovely.

Thanks,

Our local FB selling page doesn't really do much in the way of pram sales if the asking price is over £30, so I'm imagining it will go via marketplace if it does go. I'd be quite happy to drive a distance to sell it, it's more the thought of having viewings requests and being messed around that puts me off.

I'm a bit back and forth on the price as the sold prices on Ebay vary so wildly. I suppose I just need to find a number I think is right and see if gets any interest.

I recently sold my Baby Jogger City Select on ebay. I listed when there was a max selling fees of £1 promotion and set it as an auction with the starting price as the minimum i'd want for it (£230) and it went for £260. The buyer paid by PayPal which I refunded as I'd clearly stated on the ad cash on collection only.
