I sold a fishing reel in perfect order. Posted it and had 2 messages in quick succession saying it was faulty. I replied and said sorry to hear that, offered a refund and asked them to use the returns procedure. I accepted their return, ordered a paid returns label for them which was sent by ebay.

Since then *last night) I've had 4 messages. I can't see label. I can see label bit it won't print. Can you print label and send. Can you sort the return through ebay?

Then finally in happy to keep the item if you refund me some of the cost.

Where do I go from here? Ive offered the refund, sent a postage label.

I have a wary feeling.

As an aside - someone bid on a collection only item - they are 100 odd miles away? Can I tell them that I can't accept?

TIA

It sounds like the item is just fine and they’re trying to scam a partial refund out of you! I’d stick to your guns and just tell them everything is fine at your end and if they have any technical problems they would need to contact ebay.

Re bid on collection only item..... yes you can cancel their bid them block them from bidding as long as there is less than 24 hours to go. In this situation I would message them and just ask them to confirm they realise the item is located over 100 miles away, and that they are willing to collect within x days. Tell them that if you don’t hear back from them in 24 hours you will have to cancel their bid.

Re the first case that is my instinct too.

As for the second, they already bI'd and won. Why?! When they are nowhere near😮

Did they try and pay by PayPal yet? If so refund their payment (never take PayPal for collection items) and remind them that it’s collection only from your area, and it’s cash on collection only. Just to confirm they’re ok with that? (They might be, you never know!)

If they haven’t paid, just send the same message, if you don’t hear back from them then file a non payment case. If you do hear back and they can’t collect it then it’s quicker to cancel.

They don't want to cancel. So they're happy to pay 25 quid postage.

I'm going to invoice them for the postage. Make sure they've paid up before sending. This is ok? Why not read the listing!

I'm finally expecting the other parcel back. It wasn't damaged when it was photographed or sent but pretty sure it will be when I get it backSad

If you’re happy for them to pay £25 for the postage then OK to proceed, just make sure you pay to make sure the item has adequate insurance in case it is damaged or lost in transit.

Re original problem, I don’t know I think there is a chance they won’t bother sending it back....... but you will just need to wait and see. Good luck!
