Have got to get rid of the baby clothes mountain in the loft. Never done e-bay before. Just wanted to know do all the items have to be in pristeen condition???

Obviously rips or stains are a no no but is slightly faded from washing ok? Are tiny hidden stains ok? I'm guessing nobody will want babygros or underware.

Do you charity shop the obviously well used stuff and just sell the odd bit in good condition??? Sorry if I sound a bit dim but don't want to get a bad rating before I even start.

It's fine to sell stuff that's not in pristine condition as long as you mention it in the description. As long as you are honest, no-one is likely to give you a bad rating.

To see what is likely to be worth selling, do a search for the type of things you have, including the advanced search, and tick the box which says completed lidtings only. Then you can see how much similar things have sold for in the recent past.

I must say, as a new ebay enthusiast I've been shocked by the people with so much stuff in as new condition - do their kids never do messy stuff, or are they just fantastic at laundry? Would love to know as my dd is really tough on her clothes!

I only sell stuff that's hardly worn condition (worn once or less than a season for 1 child as they have grown out of it) I don't sell it on ebay if I wouldn't be happy to buy it. Some new things are so cheap in the shops now, you have to consider what buyers expect.

I have bought stuff "in new condition, hardly worn" that I have put straight into charity and wouldn't sell.

I only sell the things I have bought from new. Some stuff must have been back and forth over eaby half a dozen times Im sure. Or bought in car boot or charity shops to make a profit.

Yes, mention any wear or damage in the description and start at a low price. I usually sell the less pristine items in bundles and people often want, say, six T-shirts that don't matter too much to wear to nursery. Or four pairs of cheap trousers for potty training.

It's also a good idea to have a lot of listings running at the same time and offer a deal on combined postage, as people will bid on more than one thing

I have not had much luck selling clothes on Ebay tho I do all right with vintage mags. I have tried bundling clothes together cheaply (ie they are used but perfectly wearable) and selling single items that are in good nick or very vintage or, in one case, new and unworn - but hardly anyone even seems to view them.
I don;'t know, maybe it's such a busy category it's luck of the draw...

I haven't been successful either selling my kids 'as new' clothes and that's with starting them at 99p and not overcharging on p&p.

I only bother selling stuff like Monsoon, Boden and Next on ebay - the rest I stick in the clothes bank.

The trouble is kids clothes are so cheap in places like H&M and Tesco that really, why would you buy second hand !

I usually get pretty good responses to my auctions - have got a load up there now and have got at least 7 watchers per item.

I always point out any faults - one of my items up now has a food stain on the front for example - it might come out with some Vanish but I was too impatient to get it listed ! At least if you mention it there can be no comeback !
