DH sold a chest of drawers on eBay in August, the woman who won the bid paid via PayPal but wanted to collect it in person. Tbh I didn't know this at the time, I just presumed she would be paying cash.

Anyway DH has received notice from PayPal stating that the buyer paid cash for the item when she collected but a payment from PayPal has also come out and now PP have put a hold on the money. She paid via PayPal 4 days before collecting.

We aren't big ebayers, in the past we've send items in carrier through DH's work or they've paid COD.

Anyone had this happen before?

She messaged DH only to say there'd be an mix up. So I'm not sure what happened. DH repulsed saying ok but please let PP know. DH thinks she has got her transactions mixed up in her head.

But yes I won't be doing that again. Thanks for all your replies and info.

Right, you (or your DH if he is the account holder) need to PHONE paypal ASAP and speak to them. (Don't email, phone)

Point out that although she has opened a non receipt claim they can clearly see by her comments that she HAS received it and her complaint is not related to a non receipt case.

Hopefully they will have some common sense and close it on this basis. PayPal are usually quite good at this, unlike eBay.

PayPal won't care that she claims to have paid cash too (even though she hasnt) , that's nothing to do with them.

Fingers crossed they will close the case in your favour rather than making you upload proof of delivery. As I have explained this is usually what you have to do to win a non receipt case but your arguement needs to be that she she opened up the case incorrectly and it doesn't represent her issue (which is incorrect anyway).

Hope this makes sense!

Sorry just noticed your update! If she doesn't contact PayPal don't stress, it will time out as loan as she doesn't escalate it.

I recently lost £600 through this exact scam! You won't be covered by PayPals seller protection unfortunately. Also, she will have known exactly what she was doing! People are awful creatures Angry

Hopefully in your case everything will get sorted but is there any reason why you can't go to the police as I would assume that the buyer would have to prove cash was handed out. At the very least you could get a crime number so you could then might be able to contact your insurance company and let them sort it.

Maybe if enough people complain then PayPal and Ebay might not be so quick to refund and might ask a few more questions

Only ever had a couple of issues when selling . I refunded one guys money before he collected. He had obviously not read the description and then complained that the thing was not what he thought.

I have had a buyer complain that they hadn't received their purchase. I sent via recorded delivery and had a signature that it had been received.
Buyer checked with neighbours and then complained to the sorting office where it was found the postman had signed for it himself and then put it on a shelf at the sorting office. If no one came then I don't know where it would have ended up
