How long does it take for ebay to take their listing fee?

I sold a dress on ebay back in January. I asked for the listing fee to be deducted from my credit card. To my knowledge, ebay have not taken the fee yet. When can I expect them to do it?

Where are the ebayers?

Well I sold an item in April last year and still haven't been invoiced for the listing fee.

tortoise · 19/03/2007 22:56

My fees are paid through paypal so i dont know!

DumbledoresGirl · 19/03/2007 22:57

Ah interesting!

How much do you think you should be billed for out of interest? I am asking because I want to be sure of the cost of listing before listing loads of things.

Well mine was 20p for the listing, 12p extra for another picture and 5p final value fee (sold for £1 - wow!). Total 36p. It'd probably cost them more than that to bill me for it.

DumbledoresGirl · 19/03/2007 23:03

Yes mine was 20p, didn't bother with an extra photo and what is a final value fee?

You see this is what I am worrying about: what are the hidden fees?

Look on Ebay info for sold item fees. Its a % of selling price.

DumbledoresGirl · 19/03/2007 23:05

Oh

Didn't know about that.

That's the 5% cut Ebay takes from your sale. here

DumbledoresGirl · 20/03/2007 09:26

Thanks Twinkle. I still can't find out how long it is supposed to take before fees are deducted so I have done the honest thing and emailed them to ask.

You need to go into my account on the "my ebay " page it tells you how much you owe for listing and when the item sells it tells youwhat you owe then .
If you go into help you can get a list of all fees they will take.
If you do not have an automated payment in place with paypal you will have to do it manually.

DumbledoresGirl · 20/03/2007 09:36

Oh OK Flossie, looked there. Yes, I owe them 33p. But it says these are the fees I have accumulated since my last invoice. Well, I obviously haven't had an invoice before as this was my first sale, so when can I expect an invoice? The details clearly show that they have my credit card details so I am expecting them to deduct the fees themselves once they have invoiced.

I never get invoice as such I just go into that page periodically and make payment through my Dh's paypal account.
Sorry I am not being very helpful really.

DumbledoresGirl · 20/03/2007 09:52

Oh well, I suppose if they want their money, they will email me for it at some point. Or maybe not, given Twinklemegan's experience!

I think it may just be like when you stay in a hotel and they take an imprint of of your CC , for security . You still have to authorise the taking of payment on that card or any other before the debit is made.

DumbledoresGirl · 20/03/2007 10:06

Well the real problem is I don't know how to do that! Am I blind or something? I can't see anywhere on that page that says "Pay my fees now" or equivalent.

Go to my ebay
My account- seller account
Scroll down page it shows sign up to paypal for automatic payments or one off payments .
Just under that it has a link to make one time payment by another method .
Hope this helps

DumbledoresGirl · 20/03/2007 10:34

Thanks, that helps a lot. I have now cleared my debt of 33p and can continue ebaying with a clear conscience!
