hello everyone!

bear with me - first post..

One thing that I've been wondering about for ages and wondered if there were any answers out there..Why do Boden kids clothes sell for so much on Ebay?? I like the clothes alot and sometimes start bidding, but very quickly drop out as the price goes so high. On the plus side I guess that I can afford to buy some of the stuff new, as I know I should be able to sell on )as long as my dcs don't spill tomato sauce down the front..

people like the social status assumptions that go with someone else recognising that you have put your child in Boden.

It's not just Boden, it's a rejection of all that is Woolworths about society and parenting

expatinscotland · 15/03/2007 14:16

Because people are stupid enough to pay stupid prices for it.

A bit like house prices, if you ask me.

English will buy anything .

Oh sorry it's your first post, I'll stop being silly

I think it's partly because it washes well?

TeeCee · 15/03/2007 14:17

I don't get the Boden obsession at all. It seems to be some sort of uniform with mumsnetters though.

It's way too prepster for me.

frogs · 15/03/2007 14:17

It's a mystery to me, too. But great when you want to offload outgrown stuff.

Items do occasionally go for low prices, though -- maybe try things that are ending at an unpopular time, like Monday morning?

wotzsaname · 15/03/2007 14:49

Boden - every time I look at it I think why?

I looked at the girls clothes and have to say me and dds didn't like the choice of fabric patterns very much.

DanielAndOmi · 15/03/2007 14:55

thanks all the views - tend to agree! thanks for tip of looking at auctions ending on a Monday am, frogs.

maybe they look better when thay've been worn and washed a few times??

its last really well though. dd has a few things and they look as good as new even after i've washed them (my washing skills are pretty crap )

some of her other stuff from places like asda, tesco's etc go out of shape quickly, and end up really short and wide, sometimes its a false economy to buy too cheap. i work in the textiles industry so can recognise which are good quality fabrics and which are not.

wotzsaname · 15/03/2007 15:16

Have you seen this? they have all sizes left in the green and pink, uumm
funky print dress I must be missing the point about fabric choice.

I do understand about fabric cut and quality. I don't re-sell supermarket stuff if has been used, because it is normally shapeless after a while. Charity shops have that.

divamumplus · 15/03/2007 21:09

well, they not that great quality either, i bought loads last sale. they motifs of the tops going off, knees of ejans are already white. im glad i didnt pay silly full price, promised myself not to pay full price. they arent worth really,it will work well if you put on when going out, and come home and put next stuff. i cant be bothered keep them good, what is the point buy clothes for your dc and wear only occasionally becasue its boden.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/03/2007 21:14

DS has a few items from a friend and they wash well and have kept their bright colours. I have a few items too and like them, especially the skirts. I wouldn't pay full price.

chocolateface · 19/03/2007 13:47

My DH reckons there is a secret club you can only join if you dress your kids in Boden.Once another Mum recognises your kids are wearing Boden your in.

frenchleave · 19/03/2007 13:51

Going against the grain here but most of the Boden t-shirts I've had for my girls have lost their shape after a few washes.

mamatres · 19/03/2007 14:00

i recently sold some lovely velour trousers od dds on ebay and they went for bloody £2.70! how did tyhat happen when whenever i am trying to buy boden on ebay it ends up at nearly new price?!!!!!!

fwiw, i love boden clothes, cut, shape, colours, fabrics and patterns are all lovely. i think alot of the mens stuff is a bit sailing set and dodgy and some of the womens but mostly the kids stuff is lush and lasts really well, and looks sweetly old fashioned without any naff logos, like 'hot babe' on tops for 3 yr olds which imo are just wrong!!!

misdee · 19/03/2007 14:07

i like the girls clothes as the mad fabrics appeal to me, and the clothes last. dd2 has a pair of flowery venvet trim baggies which i bought it 2005. they have been worn almost every week . they were dd1's. they have only just started to go in the knees, and this is only because dd2 did a spectacular skid across the path when she fell off her scooter last week (note to self, get knee pads, makes clothes last longer lol).

i only buy in the sale and second hand. i then sell them on.

the only problem i have is a pair of short pj's i bought for dd2. the binding round the sleeves shrunt so they were too tight. so have passed them onto dd3, they are too long but they still fit her and she will have plenty of wear out of them as well.

Rubybees · 19/03/2007 14:29

never had boden stuff

I find Next always sells well too
