Would you leave negative feedback?

I bought an item on "buy it now" and paid immediately through paypal( as I always do). I then got an email from the seller saying that the price was a mistake - it wasn't the buy it now price it was the starting bid price. She wont sell it and has refunded my money ( although I wont get it for 4 days until it comes into my account).

I can understand that someone can make an honest mistake. But as a buyer,if i bought something then emailed to say the price was too high, it was a mistake and I want a refund, I would expect negative feedback. Unless of course it was an item for £10 and I keyed in £1000 by mistake. Its not a private seller, she has a number of ebay shops.

I am imclined just to forget it,anyway I dont want neg feedback myself as i have 100% positive.

DH says I shoudl leave neg feedback. What do you think, mumsnet jury?

if you neg her, she'll neg you.. to be honest I wouldn't bother but would report it to eBay - is there something in their rules about buy it now? there must be surely??

I think there's an advertising rule about selling at an advertised price??

I would email ebay too. If they are regular ebayers they know what they are doing.

throckenholt · 08/03/2007 13:12

I would email ebay. And if I left any feedback I would pack something like "sale not completed - seller pulled out and refunded payment".

thnaks mascara - I checked the buy it now rules and cant find anything about this.

you will get negative back, unfortunately. Even ebay won't do much about it, even though it is against their rules. I've had this problem before. They'll only send her a narky email, and she'll probably jsut ignore it.

thnaks everyone. I have emailed ebay and will let you knwo what they say

i suspect that my first instinct is right and I shoudl just forget it

Neg them on the last day possible and hope they don't notice until too late!

Kelly1978 · 09/03/2007 13:11

don't do that!

I used to do that, then I found out that it is still possible to leave feedback after 90 days, so long as you have the item number. It only disappears out of your ebay. I got negged straight back once doing that.

AbominableSnowMum · 09/03/2007 13:13

If you leave feedback I am sure it then allows them ANOTHER 90 (or 30?) days from the date you left it.

we had a problem with postage for an item (we paid more than 5 times what the stamp cost, and it could not have theroretically cost that much even including petrol, time etc.)

we left neutral feedback, stating good communication but postage was a little high

he left negative, saying we tried to con him for a £5 refund after we recieved it!

now it looks bad on us for asking someone to make a good will gesture as p+p is not a money making scheme!

if i were you i wouldnt leave negative feedback, just put positive, good communication, sale fell through but was given full refund! and ask her to leave +ve in return!

wheresthehamster · 09/03/2007 13:53

I didn't realise that about 90 days feedback. I've never done it but was thinking about it for an item I've waited three weeks for - a birthday present that was supposed to be here on 22nd feb.

The attitude of the seller in his emails is really annoying me and the fact he is sending out hundreds of items won from him in the last few days is even more galling.
