I sold a juicer over a month ago. Delivery was a major nightmare - combination of Payperdrop's inadequacy and buyer giving me the wrong address!

Anyway we have both left positive feedback and today I got a message from her saying it's not working. She's used it once but second time it never worked. It was a brand new machine. Never opened the box.

I have told her it was all brand new so nothing I can do. She should take it up with manufacturer if there's a fault.

Does this seem reasonable?

Eminently.

NatalieJane · 05/03/2007 18:06

What else could she expect you to do? I am surprised she has even told you actually.

DimpledThighs · 05/03/2007 18:06

yes I think it does - esp as it worked for her the first time (and she has already left feedback )

but I know ebay take complaints very seriously and it is really easy to get banned so would tread carefully with her but you are in the right.

If you are worried you could trawl through the agreements bit about selling because I am sure it will say the same.

Thanks

I'll wait and see if she comes back to me. If she's used it successfuly once, how do I know she's not broken it?

i'd offer a refund and take it up yourself with supplier.

Ceolas · 05/03/2007 18:10

Oh god I was dreading someone would say that, SEA. It was a total nightmare getting it delivered in the first place. I'd weep to have to go through it all in reverse

sorry! it's up to you though

ledodgyDave · 05/03/2007 18:14

Have you got the receipt? If so you could send it to her and let her take it back.

Ceolas · 05/03/2007 18:15

No receipt. It was a gift to us. We'd never use it. That's why I sold it.

How can you take it up with the supplier? You have no idea what she put in it, whether she overloaded it, put in inappropriate things, etc.

If you sell on ebay as a trader, then yes her gripe is with you. However, as a private seller, then she should take it up with the manufacturer.

DimpledThighs · 05/03/2007 18:47

still think it is not your problem.

Ceolas · 07/03/2007 09:39

Update - she says she will contact manufacturer herself. Hope that is case closed!
