I am going to list a telescope on Ebay this afternoon, it's 85 Kg and obviously too big to post.

How do I go about a courier and do they cost much??

TIA

Payperdrop on Ebay, you can pay via Paypal and they use DHL

Excellent, 10/10.

I'll find a link for you.

ucm · 04/03/2007 14:24

Fanks hun, could you also talk me through it, what do I do as I have never done this before.

I'll get the link in a minute for you.

Wrap the item up nice and secure. Because its a telescope I'd use bubble wrap then brown paper.
Measure it.

There is a form to fill in on the payperdrop site, really easy and self explanatory.
You pay them via paypal.

They pick your item up and deliver it to the buyer.

I find them spot on.

Ta, I must be a bit thick again though, as I can only see 'buy it now' for 5.99, so do I just buy it and go for it at the time.

Also we weighed this fecking thing (xmas pressie to DH in 2005, only got it out for the eclipse last night and it's shite, IMO anyway) and as I done the weighing on the landing (dark) it looked like 82kg, that can't be right can it, don't want to weigh it again, do you think it was probably more like 8.2. I can lift it, just about, back on top of the wardrobe and I am not strong.

I'm not very good with weights sorry.

You buy it now, then go to the website and fill in the form. Submit it then they'll come on the day you request.

JARM · 04/03/2007 15:13

UCM, yes, all you do is once it has sold, click buy it now, use the form to fill in the details and await courier man to arrive.

How heavy is it in relation to a buggy say?

I have sent some heavy double buggies through ebay couriers - they allow up to 30kg, and most of mine usually come in at around 15 total.

Also sent my tent in 2 parcels as both together would have been over the 30kg limit.

ucm · 04/03/2007 15:34

It was definitely 8.2 I reckon. Thanks WB & Jarm. Love Ya both.

Payperdrop are really good I use them a lot, but they dont insure anything with glass in it

Bucketsofdynomite · 04/03/2007 20:57

I used Selective2007 for the Mumsnet Xmas thingy, as did lots of MNers. They were fine, just a bit of a gmable re collection time.

Ceolas · 04/03/2007 20:57

Payperdrop I had a problem with. Most people are happy though perhaps I'm unlucky...

wanderingstar · 09/03/2007 17:25

I've used Payperdrop twice and been happy; but tbh it probably really depends on how reliable their subcontractors/drivers are for the WHOLE route your item is taking. May try Selective 2007 next time just out ofdcuriosity. I have a highchair to liost...

nappyaddict · 14/03/2007 23:51

with selective2007 do you book a time that they come and collect or do you have to wait in all day?

warthog · 15/03/2007 08:20

what was your problem with payperdrop ceolas?

LunarSea · 15/03/2007 08:48

You can book a time with selective - but when I booked it for a specific day they arrived to collect 2 days before! Have never had a problem with Payperdrop though.

nappyaddict · 16/03/2007 04:11

so how specific a time can you book? i've heard it's best to send the form the day before you want it collecting. bit of a pain but hey ho.
