Courier Services for Buggies

So far I have only been selling small things on ebay but I would now like to sell my collection of used buggies as I have 3 buggies I no longer use and my buggy habit is driving my dh mad ( or as mad as he gets - which is actually slightly irritated).

My question is who do you recommend for sending the buggies - I am assuming they will also collect them from my house?

Thanks

Thanks a lot.

If I need a box to package the buggy where is the best place to get them.

I sold a buggy last week and used Payperdrop who charged me £5.99.They(DHL)collected from me and delivered the next day-excellent service!
I didn't use a box-I wrapped bubblewrap and cardboard around the wheels and handles, then stuck the buggy in a couple of very strong mailing sacks and it was fine, with no hassle at all.

I recently used payperdrop too; my collection was prompt the following morning, and my buyer was pleased with the pram - so it must have arrived in a reasonable state. I put it in 2 overlapping boxes.
I have an umbrella fold too that I need to sell; Bubbaloo do you think then that it would be fine wrapped in sections of corrugated cardboard roll, some bubble wrap and a couple of overlapping mailsacks ?

I use selective2007 on ebay - currently 4.25

They collect from me and deliver.

I use cardboard for the wheels and handles, and black bin bag it! Never had an issue so far and I have sent numerous buggies!

prettymum · 27/02/2007 18:36

i use selective2007 too, would recommend them

Bubbaloo · 27/02/2007 18:39

Wanderingstar=that's exactly what I did and it arrived in one piece and the buyer was very happy. So much easier than having to hunt down a box.I think as long as you protect things like wheels, handles and the front bar etc...(if it has one),then it should be fine.Buggies are fairly sturdy.

Thanks Bubbaloo; have just listed a Maclaren which should sell. Will package it as you describe, as finding a longish narrow box won't be easy.

Ok, I need to send my buggy to dublin. Its a m&p travel system and was wondering who the best company & cheapest would be to use? Been searching but it's driving me mad!

nappyaddict · 14/03/2007 19:00

do you have to wait in all day for the courier or do they give you an approximate time they will collect?

nappyaddict · 16/03/2007 17:41

how specific a time can you give for them to collect?

wanderingstar · 18/03/2007 11:31

I ended up using payperdrop for the maclaren; buyer pleased ! I'm in London; i couldn't choose a pickup time as such, but on the phone - I couldn't get the online booking form link to work - they told me that because of my particular area, the pick up would be early. In fact the guy arrived at 8.15am which was great. Perhaps if you phone they could give you a rough ballpark of timings for your area.

nappyaddict · 18/03/2007 12:07

oh right, i'll do that then.

Elk · 20/03/2007 10:36

Wanderingstar/ Bubbaloo

Is ebay the best/cheapest place to get things like bubble wrap, cardboard, mailing sacks etc.

Thanks.

I think I'm getting addicted to selling on ebay now, my dh is worried if he sits still for too long he might get sold.

Elk - yes eBay can be good for packaging materials especially plastic mailing sacks, which I use for all clothing sales. Mostly it is clothes I sell, so I buy them by the 100, in a couple of different sizes. Some sellers do "starter" packs of these, in mixed sizes. Just be aware of postage costs; some are rather overinflated imo.

For padded envelopes - I also sell books on Amazon - I've sometimes used ebay, but increasingly Staples. Maybe there's one near you ? Sometimes they have bogof type offers there, and the quality is high. I haven't compared the cost of their bubblewrap with what's on ebay, but bought a large roll there recently to wrap my maclaren buggy.
