hi

there was a double buggy on ebay start price £30,

we live near, so emailed and asked if they would drop it off as we dont drive and offered £50,

the seller agreed, saying he works in xxxplace so he can drop it off on the way to work

however 5 hours before the end there were still 0 bids so i waited and got it for £38

the seller has just emailed me saying he will drop it off on monday for another £7

i think this is too much considering

A- He passes here on the way to work anyway

B- for £5.99 you can courrier the buggy to london fgs, so £7 to turn a corner on the way to work seems a bit much

what would you say/do??

also consider we cant pickup as we dont drive

but you offered 50 quid didn't you and he agreed so now he wants less than that doesn't he?? I'm obviously confused

SexyMadScientist · 16/02/2007 18:54

I would say that if you offered £50 you can't argue. If you offered up to £50 you could try and negotiate or say you'll take the courier...

MrsGoranVisnjic · 16/02/2007 18:55

you basically went back on the £50 deal though so he's meeting you halfway

don't blame him really

I'd see if you can arrange a cheaper courier or pay the £7

misdee · 16/02/2007 18:55

i'd accept it for the extra £7. it may cost £5.99 to courier but boxes etc cost a lot.

he could say that you have to come collect it, which will be mroe hassle.

fannyannie · 16/02/2007 18:55

I'm with TR on this one - if you offered him £50 you're actually getting it for less than what you would have done if he'd gone with your initial offer........

kittylette · 16/02/2007 18:56

he said he would put a buy it now up for me of 50 quid, but never did so i got it for 38

what did he have as his delivery charge or was it collection only? Could you get someone else to collect it for you?

kittylette · 16/02/2007 18:58

collection or deliver for a small fee but i dont think 7 quid is a small fee when its not out of his way at all

Hmm
LIZS · 16/02/2007 19:42

Sorry but you reneged on the price you offered so think you should pay out. He may be based near you but doesn't always visit his office every day so would have to make a detour on Monday.

TotalDream · 16/02/2007 19:52

I think he is being cheeky , but you were willing to pay £50 so i would just take it and learn from it. Mybe next time offer upto rather than fixed amount.

Cloudhopper · 16/02/2007 19:55

I had a buggy delivered from an ebay vendor and it cost 20.00. I think it actually cost this much for him to send by post because they are heavy and bulky.

I would take the 7.00 but on the other hand, I understand how it feels when you thought you had made a deal. I would still take it though with good humour. It is still a good deal for a buggy.

Ladymuck · 16/02/2007 19:59

Well if they advertised it for collection only I'm not sure what your options are? Are you really presuming that they will deliver for free? How much would it cost for you to take a cab and pick-up. If less than £7 then do that instead.
