Sent item via Royal Mail second class signed for - buyer claiming he hasn't received it

Just checked online and it was delivered and signed for by someone with his name almost a week ago.

Anyone know what happens now?

Has a case been raised? If so, all you need to is send the evidence to Ebay and they can adjudicate.

If a case hasn't been raised, just send the buyer the evidence and let them refute it.

Upload the tracking information NOW against he sales record of you haven't done so already. Then ask the buyer to check the information and if he's still certain it hasn't been recieved, then to open a case with eBay. As long as you have a tracking number which shows the item as delivered, then you will win.

Also suggests the buyer discusses it with his postman.

Don't think he'll have a case and you'll be fine, but I have had parcels signed for by my (brilliant) postie who puts my surname in so there's a small chance someone has signed for it in his name and he's genuine.

No case raised yet - he just emailed me today to ask where the item was. It was my son who sold the item using my ebay account (he had my permission) and noticed that the name at the confirmed delivery address on his ebay account isn't the buyer's name - but it was signed for by that person.

How do I upload the tracking information against his sales record?

Just look at the item under "sold" and there should be an option to "add tracking".

I take it the item was sent to the confirmed address that accompanied the PayPal payment?

Yes - the confirmed ebay address and signed for by the person named there also.

SirChenjin* Just for future reference always upload the tracking as soon as you get back from the Post Office with the receipt that way any one who may decide to try for a freebie will be notified that the item has been posted and the tracking detail entered, this will put anyone off from "trying it on" as a non delivery,and you will be covered for any case which may be opened,I learnt this first hand when I was a new seller.

Update from the lad tonight with sincere apologies. He checked with his postie today and the postman had signed for the parcel and put it in the shed, where it's been for the last week while the buyer was away. He's got 100% feedback and has been an ebayer for a few years now so I do trust him - but are posties allowed to do that??!
