Buyer becoming threatening

In a nutshell, I sold a dress a few weeks ago and I was two days late sending it.

I apologised to the buyer and said I'd sent it first class (it was second class originally) as way if an apology.

She received it and wants a refund because it arrived late. She is pretty much stalking me. Sending message after message and has opened up a case against me.

I will not give her my address to send the dress back as quite frankly she's starting to worry me now.

What can I do? I think she's scamming me and I really don't want to refund her. I've reported her to eBay but I'm totally confused by their reporting system.

I'm getting totally fed up with ebay now and think this will be my last sale for a while.

She can't have a refund because it arrived late. She is insane. What's her feedback like?

Report again to ebay, tell them how many times she has messaged and that you feel threatened. Then ignore her. Ebay will deal with it.

what reason has she chosen for opening a case?

You can report her messages to eBay. And add her to your blocked bidder list too.

I'm afraid if she's opened a case against you, and wins, eBay will give her your address to return it so you can refund. If this happens the only way round t is to refund without return (which, if the case goes in her favour, you will be given an option for).

Did the dress arrive late? If you sent it two days late but first class instead of second then I'm guessing not. There should have been an estimated delivery date when it was purchased. Do you have tracking to prove it was delivered on / by this date?

Your saving grace may be eBay don't tend to get involved in postage disputes, so there is a chance her "case" may be thrown out. Don't hold me to this tho!

In terms of you reporting her for harassment, have you actually phoned eBay to see what they say? Contacting them by email and live chat is fairly useless.

Thanks for the advice.

I know full well that ebay will side with her no matter what I say so she's sending the dress back and I'll refund her the paltry cost of £4 when it arrives.

She's gone all meek and helpful now I've reported her to eBay but that's it for me. This is the second time in a month I've had my fingers burnt so I'll just take clothes to the charity shop from now on!!

Sorry to hear this. Ebay is getting impossible for genuine sellers now. I sold a simple item last month, cash on collection, buyer examined at the time, happy, all smiles, (£15), and then ext day wanted a refund as it wasn't as good as he thought it would be. He knew where I lived. He stated "not as described"...Threatened to open a case....I didn't want the hassle so refunded. Waste of time but what can you do?

summerwinterton · 14/09/2015 19:33

if he paid by cash the threat of opening a case meant nothing. And if someone threatens you as they know where you live, you should go to the police
