Sold a top earlier this week, buyer received it today and has sent a message saying
Please let me know returns address as I don't like the material.

I don't want it back & see it as they should of checked before buying

did you state what material it was made of ? if you did not how could they check ? you could say you don't accept returns but then the buyer could take a case against you, think carefully about this, depending on the cost of the item. would it make better sense to refund, list it back up and block the buyer? would save a potential neg. against you.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/03/2015 00:17

You will still have to refund so you need to protect your feedback by telling her your address and giving her a refund once you've got it back.

It's crap but they will allow her to return it - the No Returns thing just doesn't apply

Wineaholic3000 · 28/03/2015 07:07

I didn't state the material

Who pays for the return postage

If they are returning just because they don't like it, they they should pay, but you may have to battle. I would exchange a few more messages (ONLY) thru Ebay getting them repeat that they just don't like it, rather than it is faulty. Then tell them that the procedure is that they need to return at their cost & then you will refund (& send a cancellation notice). You have to refund original postage, too, btw.

If you sold it for less than 2 lots of postage then it's not worth all that; just send cancel request, immediately refund, and put them on your blocked bidders list. You can share their username here, too.

Wineaholic3000 · 28/03/2015 08:50

I sold it for £8.75 with free postage

And now I know why I don't bother with ebay

a lot of people seem to think like you wine, it does semm very staked in favour of the buyer now, whilst sellers get the shitty end of the stick.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/03/2015 09:32

Ok, point out to the buyer that she needs to send it tracked - it will cost her £3.90 sent second class recorded so she might not bother.

glammanana · 28/03/2015 18:25

I don't think she is returning because she doesn't like it because she liked the pic's obviously on your advert I think maybe she could be illergic (sp) possibly to the material a lot of people have problems with synthetic's,thats why I always put the mix of material on all my postings you really have to cover yourself.
I would just wait until it is returned and refund and remember to send her a cancellation request so you get your fee's back.If she folds it correctly ie: very flat into A4 size she may get away with large letter costing £2.90 tracked

LaurieFairyCake......ebay won't always enforce a return and refund scenario if.....

  1. There is evidence that this is simply buyer remorse (and the OP has this evidence is the form of the message sent by the buyer) and the item hasn't been misdescribed
  2. They are a private seller
  3. Their listing states no returns (again this only applies to buyer remorse)
19lottie82 · 30/03/2015 09:25

BUT yes prob easier to accept the return to avoid poss negative FB. as advised thought the buyer might change their mind due to the hassle / return postage costs

robin64 · 30/03/2015 12:18

It is a pain but I agree in this situation best to just accept back and refund buyer. It is not worth the neg or defect. Just be polite say "sorry you don't like the top, please return for a refund, the refund doesn't include return postage. See what they say about return P&P. If they get narky just ask them to send cheapest track method and refund all costs then block them. Ask buyer to accept cancellation request to get your fvf back. If the top comes back & you think it has been worn report buyer to ebay.

MincePieDiet · 30/03/2015 12:22

I have had this a few times and just simply say please return tracked for a full refund. I never mention that postage is at their expense and have never had anyone query it. It's really not worth her while to return it at that price. You may find she doesn't.

Wineaholic3000 · 30/03/2015 20:06

Asked the seller to pay for return postage& now she's keeping the item
