Would you change feedback?

I bought a pair of shoes on ebay. I paid immediately and after a week had no shoes. I sent a couple of messages to the seller, no response, so I opened a case with ebay. Just before the 8 days were up I was fed up so left negative feedback, I then heard from the seller, they had been in hospital for almost 3 weeks but would send the shoes ASAP. I have now received the shoes and a request to change the negative feedback (which was item never received and no contact from seller). What would you do?

Well which one is easiest for you to live with, one of these is true. They are a

  1. scammer who just hoped to totally cheat you (and why would they scam you, if they were ever going to send the shoes why wouldn't they have done it quicker rather than wait for threat of neg f/back)

  2. incompetent so just didn't send shoes out in time with no good excuse, and frankly then maybe they deserve your pity or

  3. they really were ill in hospital and the story is genuine in which case it's on your conscience whether to add to their burdens.

No right answer. I think they might have a defect on the sale no matter what you do now, so I think I'd give them benefit of the doubt re neg f/back. My feeling is that scammers don't usually end up asking nicely.

Thanks, I think I'll change it to neutral, I did get the item in the end, it just seems coincidental she got out of hospital just a few hours after I left the negative feedback.

when I had a similar problem I left a neutral (the only time I've not left a positive) with a comment like ' lovely item, but dispatched 12 days after payment was made'.

I bought a used book recently which was described as in very good condition - it wasn't, I would have called it poor. I contacted the seller, no response, I left neutral feedback.

The seller then refunded my purchase cost, told me to keep the book for free and asked me to consider changing my feedback.

I didn't, I wouldn't have bought the book for 1p in the condition it came in tbh.

Scammers in the main.

I would change the feedback.... I think she took a while to post but beg feedback after 8 days is harsh.

Cherryapple1 · 22/03/2015 20:18

I wouldn't change it because not only did she send out too slowly, the likelihood is she lied about being in hospital.

I had 100 percent feedback and genuinely broke my leg. I'd forgot that I even had an auction ending ....pre wifi days. Took a week to dispatch and I apologised as soon as I realised. I got negative feedback. My only one to this day. All the other buyers were so understanding.

MsDran · 22/03/2015 20:24

The neg feedback was after 3 weeks, waited about 9 days for delivery, then sent messages, waited a few more days and then opened a case. No contact at all from seller in those 3 weeks yet replies to me a few hours after I left negative feedback and posts the next day.

Does sound like a miraculous recovery....hhhmmmm

Cherryapple1 · 22/03/2015 20:51

It is that immediate response to the neg which makes me doubt the seller quite frankly.
