Do I refund postage too?

I sent out some lovely items last week. All baby clothes that were hardly worn.
One eBayer took 3 days to pay, she just messaged me saying there is a hole in the item.
There couldn't possibly be, but obviously I have to take her word for it.
The item only sold for £2 it's not even worth her sending it back. I'd rather just refund her. I've asked what she would rather do.
Is it possible to just refund her the price of the clothes and not the postage?

You need to ask her to send all items back for a refund. If she does you will have to refund both sets of postage plus the cost of the original items. It does sound like she is trying it on. I bet if you ask her to send the items back you won't hear from her again.

no - she needs to return at her expense - and once returned you give her back her money and the original postage. The return postage is hers to pay, not yours.

I bet cost of postage back is far more than 2 quid.
Only possible to refund only purchase price IF she agrees to that little refund.

I would only try what Chinstrap suggests if buyer hasn't actually opened a case yet.

If she has opened a case then you've already got a black mark on your account. So in theory you could do what Chinstrap says since you've nothing to lose, but it probably means you being out of pocket as well as getting the black mark, what's the point?

If you insist that she send back, then you will be out of pocket 1 lot of postage, 1 lot of fees, 20 pence retained by Paypal, plus whatever Ebay charges for return postage (more than you paid, I promise). No way you're going to cover all that on resale if it only went for 2 quid first time, so I wouldn't ask her to send back.

To avoid actual neg. feedback and cut my losses, I would ask her to send pic of the offending hole, and then once I saw it, I would agree to refund her in full without having her send item back, and I would leave feedback along lines of "Sorry you were unhappy with the items" and put her on my blocked bidder list. cow

She hasn't opened a case, I have asked her to send a photo of the hole. She has not got back to me yet, I shall see what she says. Yes the postage was £2.80 so more than the item itself.

It amazes me the fuss people make over a tiny hole (if there was one to start with) doesn't anyone know how to sew anymore ??? lol.

She said it's on the inside lining as well, so not even noticeable.
She still hasn't answered me but I will just get her to send it back and refund her. We will both be out of pocket then, as she has to pay her return postage to me.
It's ridiculous for a £2 item.
