anyone used my Hermes?

Just sold some boots which I was going to send via collect plus as it's easy for me to drop off the parcel at the local newsagent.

However the buyer has just contacted me to all if I could use my Hermes instead as it will be cheaper for her and they know her address.

What is their service like? And how would I adjust the price? She's already paid the cost of boots and collect plus postageConfused

How much postage did you charge her? How much do the boots weigh? Surely she should have asked this before bidding. And other couriers will know her address btw.

Yes I use Hermes for nearly everything - never had any problems.

Unpackaged they are just over a kilo in weight so I have probably used the wrong weight banding, I went by their guidelines.

Do my Hermes have drop off points? I can't stay in all day to have aparcel collected from my house. I have a feeling that she will leave neg feedback if I don't accommodate her wishes.

Also how do I refund her as surely I'll get charged on the whole amount (which includes the 6.19)

And why bid on something and pay for it knowing the terms and then ask for something different afterwards?

DP recently used my here's when he sold something on ebay. We had it collected from home but could have dropped it to the local depot.

Much cheaper than the post office and much more convenient.

I can't answer your other questions but personally I wouldn't be refunding her postage, she bought them knowing the postage cost so she can't just change her mind now.

Yes, myHermes have drop off points, just like Collect Plus. In my village the newsagent does one, and the mini supermarket does the other. In fact, it's cheaper if you take the parcel to a drop off point.

I have used them several times and never had a problem.

thisadhdmum · 08/03/2015 17:54

Can't you go to a post office? I've had terrible experiences with Hermes, on two different occasions and at two different addresses. Their tracking is useless, they without fail will throw things over our fence here and mark them delivered, when the sender has paid for a signature. Crappy service. People sending via Hermes will actually mean I don't bid on their items, such is their bad reputation.

currentnameinuse · 08/03/2015 17:54

They collect or you can drop off. They will cost £4 to send. You can refund the difference by logging into paypal.

If you don't want to send by Hermes don't.

ajandjjmum · 08/03/2015 17:56

I use Interparcel to book my parcels - sometimes Hermes are cheaper, sometimes not. But they've always been really good.

currentnameinuse · 08/03/2015 18:03

And I find RM never bother with a signature and are pretty useless.

Look if you stated Collect + in your auction then use them. Tell the buyer no, Hermes is not possible.

Hermes are abysmal. we've had packages go missing, thrown in bins, in other peoples gardens and even left on the doorstep (terraced house, no garden at the front just pavement). we avoid wherever possible, unfortunately some major stores use them ie. Debenhams, sports direct to name a couple. I would much rather pay more to have royal mail used.

SmileAndNod · 08/03/2015 21:09

Yep I've had stuff delivered to me from Hermes thrown over the garden fence with no note left - I found it a couple of days later, after it had been raining. Our drop off point is in a dry cleaners with weird opening hours, or its about 4 miles to the next nearest one (a petrol station) so I think that I'm going to stick with collect plus and charge the lower price for her.

Have a bad feeling about this...

No problem with Hermes here.

misscph1973 · 09/03/2015 10:26

I have used myHermes for a year now, and I have had no problems.

AuntieDee · 09/03/2015 12:19

My Hermes are fine if you live somewhere standard but if you live out of the way they tend to refuse to deliver - they will then charge the seller a second delivery fee to return it to them. As the people delivering are self employed there isn't a central depot so you can't just go and collect the package. I hate them!
