Seller left me rude feedback.

I didn't think it was possible?

I bought a Cardigan on Buy it now.

The listing stipulated that the Cardigan was in perfect condition.
On receiving though, it reaked of smoke and was stained.
I sent a message to the seller explains that it must be an oversight etc...
He then responded that l should try washing it!
I explained that wouldn't work for me,did he gave any other ideas?

No (apparently he didn't)

I suggested he refund me two pounds to cover the cost of buying a stain remover.

Yes, he'd do that. As long as it wasn't too expensive?

Nothing refunded.

I contacted him again, and he started accusing me of letting him think l had paid a higher price for the Cardigan.

Anyway.... I decided to leave his feedback.

I gave him positive but stated:

'seller unfazed by selling a smoke infested and stained garment'

Seller gave me:

'can't believe you kicked up a fuss over a four pound item'

So... Can l get that removed?

Obviously, he had to leave it as a positive.

I buy masses on eBay.... And l sell a fair bit.
I suppose his silly comment will fade down when scrolling eventually?

Thanks...

I agree that he was rude, but how does washing it 'not work for you'?

Hurr1cane · 01/03/2015 12:53

Didn't she mean that it didn't get the stains or the smell out so she had to buy stain remover?

Feminine · 01/03/2015 12:56

Washing wouldn't work for me, as there are no guarantees it would clean up.

Plus, 'like new' normally means minus stains and reaking of cigarettes! :)

If it were me, l would have offered a refund straightway.
I have been on eBay for about seven years, it is very unusual to receive anything in that condition these days.

Plus... He couldn't have missed it!

The stains were of the orange variety.

On a pale.pink.fabric Wink

Totally unacceptable imo,I would request a refund including your return postage and do it before the 30days are up,there is no way I would contemplate keeping something smelly like that it sounds as though it should go in the bin ?? I wonder how many times he has gotten away with this ? I am very surprised,so open a case and make him eat his words he deserves it.

BaronessBomburst · 01/03/2015 13:15

I see what you mean.

Return it and ask for a refund.

Feminine · 01/03/2015 13:19

Unfortunately, I did try washing it.
On Friday, after the feedback shambles.

It is fractionally better, l doubt l will ever wear it now.

I suppose l will have to put it down to experience.

I know it is "just four pounds" worth, but obviously (like most of us) it us the principle isn't it?

Thank you for all the replies. :)

I'd still return it. If it's stained, it's not even like you can resell it.

Auburnsparkle · 01/03/2015 14:40

ask ebay and they will remove the feedback as it is not allowed.

And do open a case not as described - why wouldn't you?

lottiegarbanzo · 01/03/2015 14:47

Why did you give positive feedback?

I'd have asked for a refund, then opened a case against. He's scamming you. Why would you not complain about that?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 01/03/2015 14:54

I'd change your feedback to negative.

And I'd probably leave his up because it makes him sound like a twat and I like to know if sellers are twats or not.

I'd also open an "item not as described case" for a refund.

I can't believe you've been on eBay for 7 years as a buyer and seller and you're being so wet about this. Give accurate feedback too - it helps everyone.

Auburnsparkle · 01/03/2015 17:32

Moving - you can't change feedback to a neg.

I would have negged and left low stars though - I dunno why you left a positive really.

Feminine · 01/03/2015 18:19

I left low stars.

I put the negative/truthful comment under a positive, as l knew he couldn't ask for it to be removed .

I think it will be clear to prospective buyers.

I'm also getting the feeling that he won't be around for long. The user name is *his, plus 2014. Indicating his 'shop' is new.

My fault.

I must be honest, I don't think l will send it back now. It will cost me, a bit like chucking good money after bad l suppose.

Thank you all for your help. I'm hoping l don't get another experience like this, if l do however... I will know what to do.

Auburnsparkle · 01/03/2015 18:28

It may not cost you - open the case, it will tell you if you can return for free or not. Even after escalating you can write in the case that you don't want the expense of a return and eBay may give a no fault refund without the need for a return. Just do it - what have you got to lose?

Have you reported the feedback he left you to eBay yet?

btw - the fb you left him, well as it wasn't a neg or neut then no, most buyers won't notice it or bother reading. Buyers generally only read bad feedback, not the positives.

Feminine · 01/03/2015 19:47

Okay auburn
I will do that in the morning.

You are right.

Thank you.

What was it packaged in? Plastic mailing bags frequently leave clothing smelling like smoke.

Personally though I'd have sent it back under not as described, you'd have been given a full refund including your return P&P.

19lottie82 · 06/03/2015 14:20

contact ebay and they will remove the feedback. sellers can't leave "negative" feedback, but may select to leave positive feedback, accompanied by a "negative" comment.

this is against eBay's T&Cs and will be removed.
