what is the best way to list?

I have some branded kids boots that cost £55. Have been worn once. I don't want to put on a 0.99p auction as I'd be really pissed if they went for a quid.

Should I do an auction with a starting bid of the minimum I'd be willing to accept?

Or just do a BIN?

Which way is more likely to get them sold?

Depends on the brand and how in demand they are e.g. snow boots are unlikely to sell coming into spring however good they are, or if they are still available in store or alternatives are easily available, stuff like that.

I sometimes search completed listings for the same items, see what others have sold for, and how many went unsold. Also how many are for sale now that you are in competition with.

I do a lot of BIN listings as I know what I am willing to sell stuff for, its free listings at the moment in the categories I use. If it doesn't sell, I use how many watchers I got, whether I got any lower offers as a guide as to whether to keep relisting, or lower my price, or just not bother again.

However lots of people will say BIN is for pussies ;) and you should do an auction, in which case I list it at a higher starting price so at least you get something.

Good luck.

I do BIN with best offer and free p&p. Never start auctions at 99p - there is no need now as it is free to list at a higher price. If you do have auctions end them at 8-9pm Mon or Tues night.

I think Thurs evening is another good day to end auction listings too.
Free P&P a good idea too, I doubt they are over 1kg, or massive if they are kids boots, so it'll only cost you £2.80 second class.

All my items are BIN & free P&P and I am at the Post Office every day at the moment, just set your price to what you want and go for it,if someone makes a bid you can always go back with a counter offer if they are interested they will accept.

I send Hermes as you get tracking for free. £2.98 and they collect from you. Much better than RM and proof of delivery which you will need.

I would try running a 7 day auction with start price set to my minimum including postage (to end around 8 or 9pm any night).

If that didn't sell then I would relist as 30 day buy it now at the minimum price plus 10-20%. Only list when you don't have to pay listing fees.

ps... about the MyHermes: check the weight & parcel size. Maybe over 1 kg so more than the rate quoted.

I do BIN and best offer, and set best offer to minimum I will accept. I hate making a best offer the waiting days/hours while its pending. If you're selling items you really should be checking your account every day.
