As the buyer, do I have to pay the return postage?

I'd never have touched the item if they had been honest.

I can't find a definite answer anywhere.

it depends - business seller? What does the seller say? eBay may provide no fault refund or free return postage label.

How was it 'not as described', was there obvious errors in the listing that you could point out to the seller.

I purchased some trousers which turned out to be too long, the measurements on the listing were incorrect so I returned them and the buyer gave me a full refund including all postage costs.

I think that Ebay are now running managed returns which are imposed on all sellers, so if you open a case & go thru procedure to escalate it (might take 8 days) then Ebay will issue prepaid postage to you which they deduct as a set fee from seller. Some conditions apply.

That's roughly what I've heard, could be wrong. More Info.

I've now had the answer from ebay. It's part of the managed returns process.

Glaring error in the listing. If it had been listed correctly I'm sure that it would still have sold quite well.

I still don't understand what has happened. Ebay are now going to refund the cost of the item plus the postage. Fine. But I've still got the item. How do I return it? I don't want it. Useless to me.

you don't have to - they have given you a no fault refund probably.
