having so.much hassle, selling.things.for.small.amount and then a buyer saying it isn't in good condition when to me it looks perfectly fine as you would expect something that has been washed and worn.Sad

actually this is the only one but it has upset me as i went out of my way to post it quickly. wish I'd put it in the charity bag

Hi michelle, i feel your pain, the problem with ebay is it brings out the worst in people wanting something for next to nothing. Make sure you put clear photos on so they know what they are buying. Also if the items are of very low value like a couple of pounds then you can end up losing money after paypal fees ebay fees and postage.

It is also a scammers paradise as people can pretend they did not receive the goods ( if you did not send them recorded and then they file a claim with paypal and get their money back and they keep the item)

It is not worth using for low value items and more hassle than its worth just take old clothes to the charity shop. Best regards x

Thanks it was a low value item £1.99 and i wish i had put in the charity bag. to me it looked fine.

this is the 3rd time in the space of 3 months and it is getting worse.

I had this issue with shoes that seller reckoned had dog poo on. They were a perfectly good pair and seller says putting them in bin. So many folk want stuff for nothing. She was issued a refund from my paypal account. How can eBay get away with that! That was defo my last sell. eBay is so yesterday!

Millionairerow · 01/10/2014 15:21

Ps the pair had only been worn once but how do I know she didn't have a walk with baby in them! Sad thing is, she says going to put them in the bin when a poor child could have done with them. Charity moving forward...

i feel your pain as if you would post shoes with poo on. i hate the way pay pal pinch your money back and agree the fees aren't worth the aggro.

If I'm selling a pair of shoes I include a photograph of the soles to show how clean or hardly worn they are so I can and would dispute any "not as described"/dirty/dog poo claim. I also try to photograph the condition of the heel are inside the shoe.

I complained to ebay about a buyer who bought a brand new item from me which was photographed from every possible angle - 6 photos in the listing- and who left a 1 star rating for item description. His rating was removed (ebay messaged me to thank me for giving them a clear example of unjustified poor feedback via the star rating system and informed me that he had been reminded of the ebay expectations from buyers) - and my star rating improved.

You can add lots of photo's and I include as many as I feel necessary to appreciate the condition of an item, I admit to any wash bobbling etc and if the item is good enough someone usually buys if the price is right. I won't list anything at less than £1.99 however and do bundles of stuff to make the postage charges more cost effective for buyers. I recently listed a bundle of 3 teletubby toys and the price hit £19 which I was well pleased with and the buyer still only paid reasonable postage costs. I've bundled Dora Explorer small stuff/Bob the builder/Winnie the Pooh and buyers seem to like it.

People claiming they haven't received goods is a pain which is why I use myhermes for £2.78 instead of Royal Mail £2.80 for small parcels up to 1kg, you effectively get free tracking. I also will not refund informally for an "item not received", I insist buyers open a case with ebay as that way there is a record of how many times they do this. One buyer went quiet when I insisted on this and then messaged 2 weeks later to say the item had finally turned up and he no longer required a refund.

Fairisledogalmost similar things happened to me over the past few months,I have now decided to on my title listing to make sure buyers read fully the description,on one I have on now a bag which has been well loved and used I have instructed people not to bid if they expect it in prestine condition as they will be disappointed, the wear is part of the vintage charm imo. Must agree about myhermes its the best delivery I think I have never lost a parcel in 2 yrs.

I haven't eBayed since January 2012, but I need to get back into the saddle again. I think you all right about avoiding selling low priced clothes - they always did seem to attract the worst of the 'Get Stuff for Free' bandits.

Wailywaily · 10/10/2014 14:16

Mainly I buy not sell on eBay but I haven't done so in ages as I have become very fed up with the poor condition of the items I bought. It seems that the standard of good used condition has dropped from no damage, mild wear and tear to ripped knees and washed so much the colour has gone. I can't be doing with negotiating returns and refunds. The final straw was receiving the wrong item - I contacted the seller who asked me to forward it on the its intended destination and eventually did receive my item but I was only refunded the postage I paid not for the time and fuel it took to go to the post office not to mention the inconvenience. And in the end the item has a hole in the knee. I know its just one transaction but I've had it, I'd rather shop the sales.
Oops rant

I am disheartened with all selling online. just bought a pushchair for a lot of money with lots of undisclosed damage on ebay, had timewasters on gumtree and fb selling sites are a nightmare!
