Buy it now, or auction?

I made my first ever listing on Sunday. I've since had two people asking if I have a buy it now price in mind. What should I do? Let it go to auction, or think about buy it now?

Personal preference, isn't it?
Bit of research can help.
Use Advanced search & sold listings to see what similar has sold for recently.

Do you want best price or to sell quickly, or bit of both?

I often list 30 day buy it now for a wildly high price, then I start slowly & repeatedly reducing the price after a week, down towards my true minimum acceptable sale price. I think this is more reliable than auction for getting best price.

Avoid listing fees if at all possible, is my only definite advice.

(and I bet your toes are lovely)

I do cheeky buy it now price but with best offer - makes buyers think they can get a bargain then.

Thanks both!

If it is an interesting item and has a few watchers then let it run. I have had a few things that have ended up going for way more than I would have dared suggest as a BIN. These items usually have had people asking for BINs so I now just say I am letting the auction run to be fair to all the watchers.

If only one person seems interested or is watching then as others have said have a look at previous sold items that are similar to get an idea of price and do a BIN if you want a quicker sale.

Often good to list it at a stupidly high price to start & just see how many views it gets. Get a feel for what kind of interest is out there.
